Dillian Whyte WBC Diamond champ or not?
Hi,
I Dillian Whyte now WBC Diamond champion or not?
After his win they said the new WBC Interim and Diamond Champion.
Hearn only gave him the regular belt, and on Boxrec the fight is only listed as WBC Interim championship.
Other sources say the bout Wilder vs Whyte would be for the Diamond belt. So what's the case now?
And is Povetkin still now WBC Diamond champ?
??? Looking for answers, thx

According to BT Sport. Dillian Whyte captured both the WBC Interim and WBC Diamond belts when he gained revenge over Povetkin.danundisputed wrote: ↑29 Mar 2021, 11:35 Hi,

Dillian Whyte probably wanted to get his hands on the Diamond belt rather quickly, because it’s probably worth a lot of money.
And let’s face it, 'The Body Snatcher' has paid the WBC a lot of money in sanctioning fees over the years, so he may as well claim ownership of a meaningless, though expensive, trinket.
For the record, within the last 5½ years, Dillian Whyte has captured the International, Silver, Diamond and Interim WBC titles - seriously!!!

Dillian Whyte has the best heavyweight resume i can remember to have never even had a title shot.... it’s madness, think of the dregs that have fought for belts over the years, some multiple times. Part his fault though.
I wonder if dillian is suing whoever leaked that drugs thing? Scary to think that would of never come out without a leak, how many similar things have happened.

The fault was persisting with the WBC route expecting to get a fair shake. Yes, hind-sight is 20:20, but the last 10 years (post-Vitali) the WBC belt was carved up between Don King and Al Haymon with the blessing of Sulaiman. I am speculating on the reason, but I suspect it was done as a way to keep the American boxing scene relevant during a period where UFC was becoming the dominant combat sport in America.gregregegg wrote: ↑29 Mar 2021, 20:04 Dillian Whyte has the best heavyweight resume i can remember to have never even had a title shot.... it’s madness, think of the dregs that have fought for belts over the years, some multiple times. Whyte might well regret not taking the cut in pay to go the IBF route against Pulev, or accepting the lower than expected offer from Joshua for the Wembley fight. But I can't imagine it's easy to cut your losses after investing many years of your life climbing the WBC rankings and the sanctioning fees that went along with it.
Regarding the leak, did Hauser even publish a retraction? He is a professional journalist so I can't imagine he was happy being played like that.
I'm going to go full conspiratorial now
Let's look back at the most high profile drugs issues in the Heavyweight scene over the last few years. Who benefitted...?
Alexander Povetkin tests positive for trace amounts of a recently banned substance. The fight with Wilder is cancelled mere days before the event.
Beneficiary: WBC/PBC
Chris Areola serves a 3 months suspension for marijuana, during which time he was dropped from the WBC rankings. He went from #14 (following Draw with Kassi)> unranked (following NC with Kauffman)> #9 (following suspension)
Beneficiary: WBC/PBC
Luis Ortiz tests positive for heart medication. Stiverne steps up as Wilder's 1st mandatory to fill the gap.
Beneficiary: WBC/PBC/Don King
Eric Molina is banned by UKad. WBC ignores the ban, and Molina fights Breazeale in a title eliminator.
Beneficiary: WBC/PBC/Don King
Big Pharma Miller tests positive in the run up to Anthony Joshua's planned breakout fight in America, derailing the fight.
Beneficiary: WBC/PBC
Hauser publishes a story that Dillian Whyte failed a UKad test based on a "leak." The WBC freezes Whyte's mandatory status.
Beneficiary: WBC/PBC
I'm kind of the impression that there are a number of fighters cycling on and off PEDs. And it would be better if the sport was cleaned up. But it just seems very odd that the one time a drugs suspension would have adversely affected the WBC/PBC, the WBC just ignored it.

But he is right. Why does anyone care who is the third or fourth level belt holder in an alphabet rating organization that is one of four or five alphabet organizations that hand out “world” title belts? It’s like asking if Whyte is now the WBO Trans Union, Inter-UK/Non-EU World Heavyweight Champion. Other than promoters, does anyone care?Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑29 Mar 2021, 16:38Gil will always be the man who hates the WBC the most.

The low levle belts mean nothing, they are just made up to get sanctioning fees basicaly as a bribe then justify rankings, and ultimently elliminators/mandatories.giacomino wrote: ↑29 Mar 2021, 22:18But he is right. Remember when the idea of the WBC diamond belt was for outstanding fights/fighters who had achieved multiple world titles and were in what was considered a historic fight? Pepperidge farm remembers.
