He definitely stopped the great Julio Hernandez, possibly the most undeserving challenger ever. His second best win wasn't a title fight.

I really liked Benitez and agree he deserves enormous credit for defeating Cervantes a great fighter at age 17 a record still unbroken.
But Gomez was a great fighter with an excellent record and while some of his greatness overlapped into the 80's he should definitely be included as a 70s great

Of course he was great, just not top 5. 1 great win, 1 solid win and 2 or 3 decent wins. That's it, and I'm giving guys max credit there.
