Tony Yoka vs. Herve Hubeaux - TBA
As per Boxing Scene's Per Ake Persson:
EU heavyweight champ Tony Yoka (10-0) has a new official challenger and that is Belgian Herve Hubeaux (32-3). The EBU has set a period for private negotiations before calling for purse bids.

I don't know really know anything about Herve Hubeaux, but the fact he went the distance against decent versions of Agit Kabayel and Oscar Rivas, suggests the Belgium fighter is sturdy, meaning that Tony Yoka might only be capable of scoring a decision victory.
Herve Hubeaux is a very good opponent for a ten-fight novice prospect like Tony Yoka.

What type of belt? All four world titles are locked for the foreseeable future (at least until 2023, by the time AJ-Fury fight twice, with the winner performing their mandatories).stevec@france wrote: ↑01 Apr 2021, 07:16 absolute crap fight , yoka talking about emulating AJ and getting a belt LOL
AJ captured his first world title after 16 fights. Yoka has only had ten.

Humberto Gonzalez.
Re: Tony Yoka vs. Herve Hubeaux - TBA
Does Tony Yoka resides and trains in France or US ?
He seems to have all attributes and talent, but seems happy enough with what he already achieved

Re: Tony Yoka vs. Herve Hubeaux - TBA
Hubeaux isn't a bad fighter at European level but he is not a serious threat to Yoka and I would like to see an Olympic champion with world title ambitions look to fight a better opponent. Someone like Carlos Takam or Hughie Fury or Robert Helenius for example.
That shouldn't be too ambitious for a man on record as saying he wants to win the world title quicker than Joshua managed it.

Impossible.... Yoke will be 30 years old on April 2022. You won't be calling him young prospect anymore.candyslim wrote: ↑02 Apr 2021, 15:16 Hubeaux isn't a bad fighter at European level but he is not a serious threat to Yoka and I would like to see an Olympic champion with world title ambitions look to fight a better opponent. Let’s not forget that the 29-year-old Tony Yoka has won gold medals at the Olympics and world championships, has also beaten Joseph Parker, Filip Hrgovic, Ivan Dychko and Joe Joyce in the amateurs.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑02 Apr 2021, 16:51 .josh ko'd whyte, won a title vs martin, and ko'd breazeale in his first defense only 2.5 years after going pro....you aint got nothing on that tony my man
Yoka is also been progressed in the pro ranks at a much quicker pace than the similarly aged Efe Ajagba, Ivan Dychko and Filip Hrgović.
And finally, Yoka’s career has been hindered due to serving a suspension and also fight cards being cancelled in Europe due to COVID-19.

Dychko is out of the picture and over 30.
Regarding Hrg? I agree with that one.
Yoka is unimpressive for a 29 year old ex-gold medalist. He desperately needs to pick up the pace and step up now. I don't expect much success from him.

cs: All the more reason that our expectations should be higher in Yoka's case.

cs: As one might expect of a former World and Olympic champion.
And finally, Yoka’s career has been hindered due to serving a suspension and also fight cards being cancelled in Europe due to COVID-19.
cs: The suspension is in the past and Covid has affected the whole world. The fact remains that Herve Hubeaux poses no more threat to Yoka than Djeko did.
It's time to step it up Tony, you aren't getting any younger and you are merely treading water.

It seems we agree on most things, but it's important to note that Tony Yoka is still only 28 years of age, for sure his next birthday is very soon, but it's not as if he's over-the-hill.candyslim wrote: ↑02 Apr 2021, 18:36The suspension is in the past and Covid has affected the whole world. Anyway, let's review Yoka's resume:
• Tony Yoka made his pro debut against an unbeaten 12-fight pro.
• Yoka fought Jonathan Rice in his second outing, but Efe Ajagba faced the same fighter only six months ago and was the Nigerian’s 14th opponent.
• Yoka’s third opponent was Ali Baghouz, but Martin Bakole fought the same guy during his tenth outing.
• Yoka’s fifth opponent was Dave Allen, but Luis Ortiz faced the Brit during his 27th outing.
• Yoka’s sixth opponent was Alexander Dimitrenko, but Andy Ruiz Jr. faced the German fighter during his 33rd outing.
• Yoka’s seventh opponent was Michael Wallisch, but Joe Joyce faced the German fighter during his 11th outing.
• Yoka’s ninth opponent was Christian Hammer, but Luis Ortiz faced the German fighter during his 32nd outing.
• Yoka’s tenth opponent was Joel Djeko, a fighter that hadn’t tasted defeat in five years.
• Yoka’s next opponent is Herve Hubeaux, a fight ordered by the EBU, but Oscar Rivas faced the Belgium fighter during his 24th outing.
It’s my understanding that the French government has imposed travel restrictions due to COVID-19, so bearing that in mind, which sort of fighters should Yoka realistically be facing right now?
Are there any prospects around Yoka’s age that have progressed as quickly as the Frenchman?
Tony Yoka might have turned pro almost four years ago, but he was suspended for one of them and probably lost another due to COVID-19.
Re: Tony Yoka vs. Herve Hubeaux - TBA
Mr. Justification i should call you ... Yoka is French citizen and Olympic gold medalist. He can be very popular and make a lot of money ... He can do way better than these ..Enlightened-One wrote: ↑03 Apr 2021, 14:30It seems we agree on most things, but it's important to note that Tony Yoka is still only 28 years of age, for sure his next birthday is very soon, but it's not as if he's over-the-hill.candyslim wrote: ↑02 Apr 2021, 18:36The suspension is in the past and Covid has affected the whole world. Any why do you praise Efe Ajagba recently facing Jonathan Rice during his fourteenth outing, but you're criticising Yoka for fighting the same man during his second pro bout?
