UGH!!! Bridgerweight Silver TItle

Post by oogiebe »

As if Bridgerweight wasn't bad enough, we have Evgeny Romanov vs. Dmitry Kudryashov in Play For WBC Silver Bridgerweight Title, May 22, according to boxing 'seen.'

Who will be tuning in for this new and exciting and much needed added division and super exciting secondary belt? :maybe:

The weight division that Wlad, Vitaly, Lennox and Bowe could all have fought at? What a joke.

It's hilarious how the WBC thinks this is a good idea.

I don't recognize the WBC anymore. They have the credibility of the IBA something like that at this point.

Różański vs Szpilka for WBC International is as bad, if not worse.

Imagine Różański vs Romanov in an eliminator to Rivas

I dont mind the fights really. Acctually I think that they are good and if these guys want to parade around with some belts then more power to them but what bothers me is that a division was created that only excludes like very few fighters and the only one of them who is even in the top 50 of all time HW's is Tyson Fury.

devils advocate:

the bridgerweight division will encourage fights between evenly matched hw/cw contenders or 2/3rd tier guys who otherwise wouldnt have fought

in terms of what happens in the ring, it will lead to some good fights

Very good points.

I like their thinking: Lay claim to all four world title slots early, leaving no room for the other sanctioning bodies to join them on their venture. Genius!

WBC: giving the public what they want before they even knew they wanted it: More divisions and more titles!

Not knocking the fight, just the division and all the additional belts. To me, the Bridgerweight division allows CW's to test HW waters before moving all the way up.

basically, the bridgerweight rankings are made up largely of guys who would just be fodder or prospect testers for top hws or cws. now give them the prospect of being a champ vs another guy who aint all that great or big.......we'll see more evenly matched fights, ones that added depth to the hw /cw divisions but werent happening

ya, basically i see 3 main areas

-3rd tier and small hws
-2nd tier cruisers
-top cruisers who are moving up to hw and want to do it gradually......okolie says he plans to do this

the great king oscar rivas, greatest bridgerweight of all time, kinda sums it up. the quality may not be great but there is potential for decent fights

The only way to lessen the value of the stupid belts is if everyone has a belt

That sounds like Hearn's idea.

I suppose Bridgerweight gives Cruiserweights an opportunity to become 2 weight world champs without having to go to heavy and fight guys who out weigh them by 40 pounds.

They will be fun fights, the problem is what’s the point, just make fun fights at heavyweight... 225 is massive with a weight cut. If they hadmoved cruiser back to 190 and made a 210 div then mabey.

The WBC have the following titles/belts:

• World
• Interim
• Franchise
• Diamond
• Gold
• Silver
• Emerald
• Onyx
• Recess
• Emeritus
• Eternal
• International
• Mestizo
• Don Adolfo Lopez Mateos
• Frontline Battle

I may have missed a few, but you get the general idea.

If Mauricio Sulaimán’s organisation has/had those belts for their other weight classes, they’re almost certainly going to have them for the Bridgerweight division also.

On a side note, I feel slightly dirty and a tad violated after submitting a post acknowledging those titles.

I dunno, he may have to get past a 300 year old Artur Szpilka first, it is no sure thing....
