Did BoxRec Moderators forgot to put Boxer's Birthdates?

Post by elmersalsa »

When I go to check information about fighters' bithdates, Boxrec does not give it.

The fighters' birthtdates used to be on display alongside the professional record.

The question for the moderators is: "Why the birthdates of the boxers do not appear now?

I believe it'd be Editors that handle the Boxers records pages, and as for why they quit including fighters birth dates. I'm sure I don't know.

It’s to do with GDPR

its kinda weird, cuz birthdates of athletes are literally all over the place and are totally standard as public info. and stuff that is still up like height and name and birthplace/residence.....isnt that all personal info too?

at least for active fighters it gives their current age, but for inactive fighters there's nothing

one of the editors says the situation should be worked out soon

As a precaution against a possible GDPR violation, dates of birth are no longer listed. For deceased fighters a date of birth should be listed again soon, as they fall outside the scope of the GDPR. For inactive fighters at least a birth year should be listed to indicate how old a fighter was at the time of a specific bout. If you think the whole thing makes no sense and Boxrec is overreacting here, I agree with you.
