Carlos Monzon on Marvin Hagler 1985

Post by oogiebe »

Interesting, albeit short take by King Carlos on Marvin. Honest and realistic.

Nothing there I'd disagree with.

One thing we can almost be sure of is that Monzon probably did have a take on Hagler of some sort.

Monzon would not have thought much of Hagler I'd guess

Both men were The Middleweight Kings of their time...
A prime-for-prime rivalry between them could only be decided in a trilogy...

The same is happening to me on Facebook! I get memories with photos on them and when I repost it with a new commentary, the photo disappears!! :D

I think he would have said that Hagler was a great fighter. Not sure if he ever said that in public though.
Something that may surprise some people is their careers overlapped. Hagler was just starting to get attention when Monzon retired.

Almost 12 years apart in age, so too bad Monzon wasn’t born six years later and Hagler six years sooner and we would have had an amazing rivalry. Unfortunately a tired Monzon was a few years retired by the time Hagler was making his move in the division
