Was there ever a Henry Armstrong biography?

Post by SamWise72 »

This is a guy I would like to read more about, but I can't find a record of anything. Anyone know?

It's not that hard to find. Often appears on eBay or Abe for around £10.

To start this topic again (fresh and anew).
How many people here have actually read Henry Armstrong's autobiography (published in 1956)?
How many stars would you rate it ?( from one to five)
and how old where you when you had read it and in which year ?
( could be a generation thing)

I received my copy in the mail just a few days ago.
and would have to agree with other reviewers and I think this is a terrific autobiography myself.
( I will give it 4 stars)
It is written in the form of a True-Life novel
by the subject himself -Henry Armstrong
who was certainly an expert on himself.
right now I'm about half-way through it ( he just arrives in California in 1930 after Hoboing it there hopping freight-trains with a partner)
and it's difficult to put down and go do something else.
there are also several pages of great photographs in the middle.
I got my copy off of E-Bay and it cost 39.99 and is in really good shape,
the dust jacket is made of a thin kind of paper
and little bits have fragmented off from just the age of the book (the book was published 65 years ago)
