Got no problems with the stoppage myself , should be no regrets ,how many unanswered punches went in ?
Too many for a BBBofC ref to not stop it.
Pparticularly with the safety first approach British refs tend to take when fighters are in distress.

It reminded me a bit of Rose vs Jones stoppage, where Rose got hurt and jomes just carried on punching until the ref stepped in.

stoppage was okay, and with a sammy vargas fight you know he's just gonna keep soaking it up like he's addicted to getting pummelled

Connor benn shoud knock kahn, then brook, then come to aus and knock jeff horn... just a solid year of retiring old fighters then start hunting world titles. He is above journymen, but still not quite ready for the top levle, so, weathered names are always a nice touch for the profile and bank balance.

ava is a great fight for where he's at , though for the risk involved they might want him to fight bigger names

Eddie - “you’re a great fighter, you are a great fighter “

Conor - “amen”

Well done Conor, we couldn't ask for more, but 12 months from now will we look back and think it was not what he needed ? His old man blasted through opponents before coming up against Michael Watson. Johnny Nelson needs to stop the cheer leader stuff, to come out and say Conor would beat Porter is just laughable. He wouldn't. They are light years apart, Eddie couldn't afford him and it would be madness to make the fight anyway.

Conor deserves genuine praise for his improvements, and his career is going the right way. But he has benefited from careful match making too. I would like to see him in with Avanesyan next, that is a proper test against somebody who would come to win.

Excellent win and very impressive....sharp, quick and heavy handed.....echoes of Benn Senior. Thought Vargas should have had a count and see if there was anything coming back after, but wouldn't complain too much about it.

Lots of respect for Conor developing within the pro ranks with little amateur experience and being where he is. Think he will be in a humble experience at some point but he will put it on the line....cant ask more than that. :TU:

Fully expect Sky and Hearn to serve up at least 5 or 6 gimmies against guys that can be sold to the public as a step up and pose a potential problem.

Benn has a lot of work to do, and Sky have to build their product up before (risking) moving him to the next level.

well we had several posters here state that they were excited for this fight, so theyve done the selling job well so far

who else could they get like vagas, in other words sellable to many people as a credible opponent when in reality a punch bag patsy

though tbh, i think he'll fight better next time, the confidence has to be growing in conny each time out. and to be fair, i think formella was a totally respectable opponent and quite the step up for benn, better than vargas for sure

Sky have done it for years, and done it well.

They convinced thousands of people Ricky Hatton was a world champion when he had that WBU run. In reality i don’t think he ever fought anyone in the top 10!

I said before the fight, Vargas will either take a 12 round beating which will make Connor look good, or will fold which also makes Connor look good.

I don’t think anyone thought he’d be finished that quickly, but anyone who gave him a chance needs to have a long look in the mirror

Actually saw people on Facebook who’d lumped money on Vargas.

7-1 but may as well have been 700-1

The company Johnny nelson parody account on Twitter is hilarious, Although often there’s not much difference between him and the real Johnny the amount of crap they both come out with

The Russian wins it. Better of matching Benn against a few decent but worn out fighters and then get him in for the vacant belt.
