Smith/Vlasov Undercard Results
Re: Smith/Vlasov Undercard Results
Yeah, that was a 114-114 fight at worst for Vlasov. I thought it was pretty one-sided in the first half of the fight, Smith made it much more competitive in the second half

Re: Smith/Vlasov Undercard Results
ya i mean it could defo be scored close, but i just have a tough time finding 7 rounds in that for joe, vlasov was landing more and bossing him around for most of it, and generally took joe's shots well until later in the fight. iim just not sure i can find enough rounds where joe was the better manoogiebe wrote: ↑10 Apr 2021, 23:43That was a very close fight. I thought Vlasov deserved it, but it could've gone either way depending on how those close rounds were scored.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑10 Apr 2021, 23:42 dont agree with that at all, not to take away from a good fight, but no way that vlasov didnt win at least 6 rounds
Re: Smith/Vlasov Undercard Results
I can't see 8-4ArmPuncher wrote: ↑10 Apr 2021, 23:45 I had it 8-4 Vlasov. Sure Smith won his rounds bigger and finished very strong in the last 2, but he was really outboxed for most of this fight. There is no way he won this fight, a draw would be generous for him.

agree, was surprised to see andre have smith up 67-66 after 7, i think i had it 5-1 vlasov or at closest 4-2 vlasov at the same point

if you cant see that, then you must think joe clearly won at least 5 rounds, but i cant see that.oogiebe wrote: ↑10 Apr 2021, 23:48I can't see 8-4ArmPuncher wrote: ↑10 Apr 2021, 23:45 I had it 8-4 Vlasov. he clearly won 7, 11, and 12, but which others?
imo, draw at best for joe. it defo wasnt the worst decision by a long shot, but i think joe a bit lucky.
that said, im happy for him, he proved a lot of people wrong and is a very fun fighter

Re: Smith/Vlasov Undercard Results
my guess is that smith makes his first defense against umar salamov, who isnt nearly as good as vlasov, and was originally in the 4 man tournament for the belt. salamov actually ko'd brian howard btw
we'll get the old dominating joe back

I didn't score along the way, but I do remember having some rounds too close to call. I thought Vlasov won, but a draw would have been fine with me. I tink I posted that before at the end of the fight.

I thought Vlasov won 8-4.
I like Joe Smith Jr. as a man and fighter, but this was a robbery and there is no way he won. That's sad because Vlasov was screwed out of a title and probably will not get another chance.

if you cant see it as wide as 8-4 for vlasov, then surely that means you think smith defo won at least 5 rounds. because if you don't think smith defo won at least 5, then there's your route to 8-4 vlasovoogiebe wrote: ↑10 Apr 2021, 23:52No. That's all or nothing thinking.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑10 Apr 2021, 23:49if you cant see that, then you must think joe clearly won at least 5 rounds, but i cant see that.

Re: Smith/Vlasov Undercard Results
Totally agree TIL...
Impossible to not to have 5-1 or 6-0 in the first half. Vlas had (much) more effective aggression, total ring-generalship and far superior defence. And Vlas clearly won the 9th or 10th (? when Joe went back to his corner slapping his hands together in frustration and shouting "c'mon" to himself).
I can accept a slightly cooked draw - you only gotta get one round wrong from 7-5, but which SEVEN rounds did Joe win ?
A 10-8 round too !![[icon_shame.gif] :shame:](./images/smilies/icon_shame.gif)

Winning 8 rounds would make it clear to me who won the fight even not tracking my scores.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑10 Apr 2021, 23:54if you cant see it as wide as 8-4 for vlasov, then surely that means you think smith defo won at least 5 rounds. because if you don't think defo won at least 5, then there's your route to 8-4 vlasovoogiebe wrote: ↑10 Apr 2021, 23:52No. That's all or nothing thinking.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑10 Apr 2021, 23:49

I prpbably had it more like 6-5-1 Vlasov.skanksta wrote: ↑10 Apr 2021, 23:58 Totally agree TIL...

Re: Smith/Vlasov Undercard Results
If I'm being as harsh as possible on Vlasov, he still wins 4 of the first 6 (tbh he actually prob deserves all of the first 6 except arguably the 2nd, but let's be extra harsh on him) and then 8-9, for a total of 6 rounds. I just don't see how you can give him less than that

Re: Smith/Vlasov Undercard Results
Doubt it, what if you edge 8 rounds. And lose 4. You can easily win a fight 8-4 without a clear winner when casual observing. I mean in theroy you can win a fair shutout in a very very competitive fight.oogiebe wrote: ↑10 Apr 2021, 23:59Winning 8 rounds would make it clear to me who won the fight even not tracking my scores.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑10 Apr 2021, 23:54if you cant see it as wide as 8-4 for vlasov, then surely that means you think smith defo won at least 5 rounds. because if you don't think defo won at least 5, then there's your route to 8-4 vlasov

Re: Smith/Vlasov Undercard Results
one of the judges scored the 11th 10-8 for smith , it was a big round but not sure it was 10-8 without a kd big
Re: Smith/Vlasov Undercard Results
That's silly. Which judge? Was that 115-112?margaret thatcher wrote: ↑11 Apr 2021, 00:11 one of the judges scored the 11th 10-8 for smith , it was a big round but not sure it was 10-8 without a kd big

Vlasov was better. Robbery. But it was predictable that they will rob him.

I think thats my final take away from the fight... Kinda sickening to just accept that try forget it by next week and watch some boxing again.aicheligad wrote: ↑11 Apr 2021, 04:39 Vlasov was better. Robbery. But it was predictable that they will rob him.
Imagine if you watched basketball and the home team got 5 points for a layup, and 8 for a three pointer.... thats basicaly boxing.
