Yeah good point. He was so confident that Dubois would beat Joyce - I always saw it as an even fight and won a bit on Joyce.maverick23 wrote: ↑15 Apr 2021, 05:36FW used to be the master at matching fighters well on the way up. I wonder if Dean Powell had a lot to do with it when he was closely involved.MightyWarrior wrote: ↑15 Apr 2021, 05:11 Well the good news is he’s left Tunde, if that’s true, so who is his new trainer? The bad news is this opponent - F*ank is obviously gun shy and reeling from his prospects getting knocked over like dominoes recently.
Yes I agree looks like one of those fighters where they build the record up in order to get him knocked over for a good payday on BT, like quite a few of triple D’s opponents.

Also it was bizarre seeing Frank get exposed by Sam Jones of all people in the build up.Allas wrote: ↑15 Apr 2021, 09:40Surprised how well Joyce took that. I thought he'd be straight off to Matchroom with how Frank went off in the build up siding with one of his guys over the other.JamesPhilips wrote: ↑15 Apr 2021, 07:56Yeah good point. Surely Yarde could have been matched with at least a top 50 guy.

They all have matchmakers. Fwank and Eddie won't sit up all night studying footage.

ya that's true, the public faces get the credit/blame for everything but there's whole teams in the background
Re: Anthony Yarde vs. Emin Atra - 24 April 2021
Smacks of regression
What is the agenda with Yarde ? Plenty of too soft and then too hard ?
Anthony would have benefited from doing the tried and trusted route, which appeared to happening when matched for Southern Area title, but the alternative route hasn't worked out (in terms of real progression and respected status...although his bank balance after the Kovalev challenge is hard to argue with).

3 years ago i was defending him from criticism when he was facing better guys than this
the arthur fight smacked of a guy who hadnt been in with the right mix of opposition and hence couldnt adapt , a punch bag like this wont help

Buatsi won me over with his last performance and a guy who came for the win and put in a stubborn effort. Calic asked some serious questions of Buatsi at this stage of his career...and Joshua answered them
The big British showdown between Buatsi and Yarde isn't looking the 50/50 fight it once was.

The magic duo that gets combined a lot on the way up is guys who have fought a lot at the weight below and guys being bought in on short notice.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑15 Apr 2021, 17:48 3 years ago i was defending him from criticism when he was facing better guys than this

This opponent for Yarde has not had 8 weeks or 6 weeks notice I wouldn’t think and 2 fights back fought at 168.
Not going to prepare anyone for 6ft2+ long arms genuine light heavyweight Lyndon Arthur is it?

what did they say about the arthur loss?
did they just blame the judges or was there any acknowledgment that yarde's approach needed to change

Nah TBH i switched off when Tunde just appeared along side him, Yarde can say what he wants, truth is Tunde let him down against Kovalev and Arthur, i appreciate the loyalty but you've got to be ruthless in this game and Yarde has repeatedly shown he hasnt got that , at least outside the ring

they strike me as deluded enough to think it was some hater judges and that they was robbed, and that yarde is already perfect and needs no improvement
edit: i see that vid, didnt watch it yet but good if yarde acknowledges that changes need to be made
