Arslanbek makhmudov a HeavyWeight talent going to Waste

Post by Boxtune »

I watched his fight, and he looks very high endurance Powerful puncher, with Iron chin.

I believe he can beat Povetkin if they fight today, But he will go unnoticed because of Bad
team and promotion behind him, as Ivan dychko. Maybe he has a bad long-term contract. Do you Agree ?

It's impossible to judge, how good he or his chin is, after he has faced only tomato cans. Yes, he punches hard, but we have just witnessed Dubois being overhyped and outclassed.

Talking about promotion, yes, it's not the best, as the guy already needs to step up, what he's obviously isn't doing.

Dubois was not great and he is not in the same bracket as Makhmudov a full grown man.
He was hyped only by UK Fans because supposedly being a upcoming young British prospect.
And now because Joyce beat him, all of sudden Joyce has been hyped up, who was not getting any credit before, and wasn't supposed to last more than few rounds.

Dubois wasn't over hyped. He lost a tough fight he was winning on the scorecards and fought through a painful injury.

Mak is unproven, but one of my current favs. Maybe the head twitches ,which only adds to his menacing look.

Makhomodev beats joyce IMO.
Dubious Landing too many punches on Joyce forearms and gloves, just accumulating points, was just matter
of time before getting tired.
Joyce isn't a heavy puncher and taking too many shots from light puncher like Jennings and could never hurt
him during fight.

Nope. They weren't at all. it was close, but I had Dubs ahead even though it was obvious he was wearing down. Far from a joke.

Dub was fighting in spurts and getting outboxed all night long.

I had Joyce up by 1 or 2 rounds but clearly in the ascendancy.

More importantly, it's time to see Makhmudov step up, chiefly because he has the biggest head I have ever seen and I'm curious to see what kind of shot he can take

Another going to waste from an ex Soviet state is Majidov. The guy is a 3x world amateur champion ffs, yet he's only had 3 pro fights in the last 18 months. He should be being fast-tracked to a title shot of some kind.

he was treated like a poor rat

he should aimed for the olympics again, kazakhstan pays good money for medals, that he presumably wouldnt have to pay manager/trainer/ etc for.

surely he's made more off his 2 bronze (i think around 150,000 usd) than he has in his pro career.....

tbh im surprised eddeh hasnt signed him giving how matchroom loves international heavyweight signees, like zhang, hrogvic, majidov, etc...maybe has to do with his existing contract

Boxtune, when are you going to learn boxing is all about levels? You can look a million dollars knocking over a tomato can but it means nothing. It's not how many wins/knock-outs you have, it's who you have beaten/knocked out.

I like Makhmudov. He's exciting and he obviously hits very hard but he can be made to look foolish by someone who is quick and/or who can box. That's an assessment based on his performances as an amateur which isn't ideal, but there is nothing he's done as a professional which allows us to make an assessment, never mind conclude that he could beat a man of Joe Joyce's quality and experience.

Joyce doesn't always look much, but if you listen to people who have boxed him, or even sparred him, or if you look at his record amateur and pro, then it's clear Joyce is a fighter who commands respect. Obviously when I say 'commands respect' I'm talking about from people in boxing, or even fans who have something of an understanding. I don't mean fools or twelve year olds, and i'm still undecided about which category you fit into.

Exactly!
I put him on my HW watch list as soon as he turned pro..
We talked about him racking up some Eastern European fights, and it's like he has stalled. I thought injury or something :maybe:

Majidov got stopped by Fedosov recently in the first round. It was a wicked right hand and he hurt his ankle as he fell. I don't know how long he's going to be out for.

Of course that doesn't change the fact he's been very inactive and he's already 35.
