Has "winner over loser" been done away with? I see Rene Alvarado is now ranked above Roger Gutierrez even though Gutierrez won their recent fight in an upset.
A bug within instant updates sometimes ignores the rule. I am chasing it ...
Hmm. I thought, poking around, that this wasn't a bug but a feature of the way scores are currently tabulated. Just as a for instance, Vilomar Fernandez's numbers only increase from 2 to 11 for his 1978 win over Alexis Arguello, while the loss only brings Arguello down from 214 to 190. I've noticed quite a few other instances like this, I just name this one because it's the one I've just now seen.
We are talking about 2 different cases.
- jujigatame talked about current ratings - the rating today - here the winner above-loser rule is in place
- you talk about the boxer's profile - a boxer's historical ratings at time of each bout - here the winner-above-loser rule is NOT in place

This Saturday night, April 3rd
Jamel Herring vs. Carl Frampton
Two "5-star" fighters...but listed as a 4-star fight?
Murodjon Akhmadaliev vs. Ryosuke Iwasa
A "4-star" fighter against a "4½-star" fighter...but listed as a "3-star" fight?
The difference comes from the different ratings used for
- boxer's current rating, which may be higher than the the rating at time of his last bout due to winner-above-loser rule and stay-busy-bout rule regarding the last 18 months, and wihich is used for the boxer's star rating
- the boxers' rating at bout time, which is exactly the uncorrected WHR rating at that time, and which is used for the bout star rating
Listen very badly with no birthdates. Why does Wikipedia have the right to disclose personal data and Boxrek does not? Can I make an electronic agreement for the distribution of personal data when creating a profile on Boxrek ???

That is no issue for the ratings thread. You can try here:
It looks like Adamek is done with the sport, he should be assigned cruiserweight.
I think he'll be right near the top of the all-time cruiserweight rankings.

You already raised the issue here on the right spot viewtopic.php?p=5474122#p5474122
But the editors do not seem to be convinced he is inactive already ...
What's the deal with Uzcategui's rating? Right now he's got about 20 points at LHW, but if you click on his profile, his last bout shows only about 9 points.

It is the Boxrec stay busy bout rule. The current rating is
- the highest rating in any bout within the last 18 months, which was a clear win OR
- the rating in the last bout within the last 18 months which wasn't a clear win.
Is the plan still to offer the old-style ratings as a toggle/choice on the website? I don't want to be overly negative because I think you generally do an admirable job with the ratings, but the old-style ratings were just so much easier to examine and understand at a glance. I do miss them.

A toggle still is on the to do list, but there still are a lot of higher priority tasks.

What year of the annual ratings are you talking about, please?
I have updated the annual ratings now - including the 2020 annual ratings - pros and amateurs ...
Thanks a lot
Concerning Josh Taylor's current rank, can you break down how he fell to #4? Was it because of his stay-busy defense against a no-name contender?
Also, would it mean that a win against 3# Jose Zepeda is more valuable, currently?
Josh Taylor's MD against Prograis was only in scope for 18 month due to the Boxrec winner-above-loser rule. Now his last stay-busy bout is not enough to keep his old rating.
But the winner of the scheduled bout Taylor vs Ramirez will be the new #1, in case of a draw Ramirez will be #1.
Regarding the value of a win against Zapeda - a win of whom?

zepada has more points than taylor, so anyone beating zeppy would be worth more than them beating taylor, wouldnt it

No that is no true. The new ratings do not only depend on the current rating, but they depend on the complete structure of the opponents' records. So for example, Pedraza stopping Zepeda would get him to 172 points, while stopping Taylor would get him to 185.7 points.

I see. It's a bit confusing, but your Pedraza example made me curious... would Pedraza earn less for defeating Zepeda because they had already fought before?
If so, how would a stoppage win over Zepeda or Taylor affect a neutral opponent, like for example
Rikki Naito? https://boxrec.com/en/proboxer/580433

Naito stops Zapeda -> Naito would have 72.04 points
Naito stops Taylor -> Naito would have 74.38 points
I seems that Taylor's record is more solid than Zepata's is for WHR.
