Hypothetical fight: Berlanga vs Munguia

Post by armageto »

Last night, I was talking to somebody about this hypothetical fight. Let's assume the fight happens at a catch weight, say 164. Neither man has an issue making the weight. The fight happens later this year. Who would you pick to win?

Would your pick change, in say, two years if the fight was to happen?

I'd pick Berlanga by KO easily.

I was on the same boat, he was saying Munguia's work rate and higher level experience would give him a decision. Figured to check what other people thought.

what do we know that berlanga has aside from power really. he's been a 100 percent front runner, meaning we've only seen his offensive game, not chin, not heart, not defense, not stamina. remember david price looking like a million bucks

munguia is better than a lot of people give him credit for, he'd drown 'gar right now :box:

Well aside from power he's also the bigger man by 2 weight classes. That's kinda a big deal.

Mung JUST got to Middleweight, and ain't fought nobody there. Didn't really fight anybody too stiff at 154 either for that matter.

Munguia is a way more experienced at higher level and after watching Berlangas last fight he's a very good prospect but has loads to improve on as he steps up.

I see where he's going with this.
Mexico Puerto Rico East Coast West Coast.
23-24 years old.
Berlanga already at Super Middleweight and Munguia heading that way.
Need to see more of Berlanga.
Numbers and projections look awesome.
Let's go I love it :box:

I think this got answered this weekend. Munguia would beat him comfortably even at 168.
Berlanga was ok, but has a long way to go. I always thought his power was a bit over hyped with a lot of his stoppages coming from just sloppy swarming, to over matched opponents. Berlanga could still get good, obviosly has some natraul gifts, but needs a bunch of fights like this one where he can actualy learn to box when someone wont just get clubbed to death inside 3 mins.
