Foreman said it wasn’t him, straight from the horses mouth. This second photo is Liston sparring someone, Foreman just said it isn’t him, not that it’s been superimposed.

And why do people bother creating fakes, because they can sell these photos for hundreds of dollars/pounds as prints or posters. Same as fake autographs.

If I had a dime for every time something idiotic escaped George Foremans lips Id be as rich as he is. These photos have been around for decades. And arent exactly worth the time it would take to fake two separate photos from two separate sources taken of the same two people in the same gym wearing the same clothes and gear. So according to the dizzying mental gymnastics on display here it makes more sense to you that a person or persons photoshopped four different photos of two people into two photos taken at the same gym in order to sell them and make a bunch of money... and in order to make the conspiracy more believable they somehow snuck one of the photos into a newspaper archive hoping that one day Getty would come along, post it to their editorial site for licensing, and somehow arrive at the exact date, location, and identifying credits as well. Oh and then destroyed all trace of the originals. Because pictures of Foreman and Liston together are SOOO lucrative... I mean a non action press photo of the two with Charlie Shipes is going for $18.88 on ebay right now with a “buy one get one half off” discount attached to it... so yeah, try harder. Maybe, just maybe, a photographer was actually present on a day and in the gym in Houston that we know Liston and Foreman were training at and Foreman being in his 70s, having taken numerous blows to the head, and always full of hot air just doesnt recognize or remember the photos being taken. You tell me which explanation seems simpler to you: Your bizarre pointless convoluted conspiracy theory or that the photo is legit? Pretty simple.

You are getting confused. No one said the second photo is photoshopped. Foreman just said it wasn’t him in that photo.

Two of the last known name boxers to have sparred with Sonny Liston before he died(or was killed),
were Joe Bugner,whom Liston asked to spar with at a gym in NYC in early 1970,
and Jose Luis Garcia who recently came up from Venazeula to train,and sparred with Liston when Liston was training for Chuck Wepner,I think Garcia also sparred with Liston shortly after that when Liston resumed training for a fight with Jerry Quarry before that fight fell through.
The sparring with Liston sounded like it certainly helped Jose Luis Garcia as he knocked out Ken Norton a few weeks after that.

yeah, that first listing of sparring partners was a rough general draft.
Gary Bates (who was also one of the last if not the last person to see Liston alive
is also mentioned in this thread somewhere.

There’s a photo for sale on eBay of a heavyweight called Gene Jackson, that says he was a sparring partner of Liston.

Same gym, same outfits, etc. dated september 12, 1969 Houston TX. Training for the second Sonny Moore fight. Ever hear of Occams Razor? The simplest explanation is likely correct. But again: If you wish to believe that some nameless photoshop enthusiast got pictures of Liston and Foreman that nobody can find independently and photoshopped them into a picture of the same Houston gym they trained at wearing the same gear they trained together in for the purpose of... what I dont even know. Thats your prerogative.

Apologies this is the photo Foreman said was fake, not the other one. He said he doesn't know who the other guy even is. As I said there is video of them shadow boxing, and Foreman was in a white t-shirt.

Yes I thought Liston lacked colour, there aren't many colour photos of him sparring that I can find. Still not sure who the other guy is though. Actually looking closer the other guy has a shadow around his arms that doesn't look right either, as the shadow is projected in a straight line but against a wall and a window. So yes maybe you are correct, another photoshopped image.

Gonzalez was a Texan, the caption that accompanied that photo said it was in a small gym in Texas but someone earlier on this thread said they sparred in Oakland which is over a 1000 miles away.

Yes I’ve seen that clip, I didn’t spot the other guy before though. Foreman said on Twitter he was a 20 year old amateur when he sparred Liston, so it would’ve been early 1969. Foreman made his pro debut on June 23rd 1969 and the date on that "photo" was September 12th 1969. So Foreman would’ve been 4-0 as a pro when that photo was taken. This differs from Foreman's version that he was an amateur. Also just six days after that alleged photo, Foreman had his 5th pro fight in Seattle. I don't know what Foreman's routine was but would he be sparring someone like Liston six days before a fight, in a gym over 2,500 kilometres away? Anyway like others I don't think it's Foreman in that photo anyway and judging by the odd colours and shadows I'm leaning towards it being a photoshopped image.

I think the below might be the gym in the photo, what I thought was a window in the background looks like a vent.
