Billy Joe Saunders has 0 chance of getting a decision win VS Canelo
Re: Billy Joe Saunders has 0 chance of getting a decision win VS Canelo
If the fight is even close that will be like a win for bjs and a boost to his reputation. Canelo is an absolute master right now, p4p#1.
Canelo is the champ (ring), is a come forward fighter, is the biggest draw in boxing. So yes, it will be hard to win a decision against him. But not impossible. I recall that kovalev was quite close on points to him.

The judging change is annoying.
Not sure they will be needed, but if Saunders does pull one out of the hat and gets atypical Canelo scorecards, I will be writing a sternly worded post!

I think Canelo might end up knocking him out anyway.
Re: Billy Joe Saunders has 0 chance of getting a decision win VS Canelo
Possibly, BJS is definitely getting his chin tested. Be interesting to see how he takes a shot. David Lemieux never actually landed flush on him did he?

Not that I can remember.
I think Canelo will heavily target BJS's body aswell to slow that movement down.
I'm not convinced that he'd take a good liver shot all that well either.

I think Saunders will have a shock if Canelo lands a big shot on him,he will definitely not have been hit as hard beforeNondescript wrote: ↑20 Apr 2021, 07:33Not that I can remember.

I personally believe that Canelo is capable of forcing a late stoppage over Saunders (depending on the Brit’s level of ambition, especially considering Billy Joe’s performance against Eubank Jr.).
However, the Mexican definitely doesn’t have one-hitter-quitter style punching power (i.e. he doesn’t punch like Julian Jackson or Deontay Wilder).
If we review the bouts that Canelo has engaged in during the last decade, the opponents he’s managed to stop quickly have all suffered early stoppage defeats against other opponents (i.e. James Kirkland, Amir Khan, Rocky Fielding & Avni Yildirim).
This means that Alvarez's power is decent, but not extraordinary.
Canelo will try to wear down Saunders, but of course if the Brit somehow makes a mistake, by leaving himself wide open to a huge beautifully-timed counter (like Khan and Krusher did), then the Mexican is heavy-handed enough to end the fight early.

I agree. Saunders slows down a lot in the second half of a fight. The fight with Eubank Jnr was a prime example of that. He boxed very well in the first half, but Eubank jnr came on very strong in the second half of the fight and Billy looked like he was holding on at times as he was absolutely exhausted and Chris was relentless.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑20 Apr 2021, 10:59 I personally believe that Canelo is capable of forcing a late stoppage over Saunders (depending on the Brit’s level of ambition, especially considering Billy Joe’s performance against Eubank Jr.).

BJ has zero chance of beating him with or without judges full stop.

Officially no, not on his nelly.kerrminator wrote: ↑20 Apr 2021, 17:58 BJ has zero chance of beating him with or without judges full stop.
But like Canelo vs GGG #1, the cards might not reflect the fight.
Re: Billy Joe Saunders has 0 chance of getting a decision win VS Canelo
I think it'll go to points.
I watched that interview with BJS and he already sounded like a guy who was expecting to lose a decision. Nobody wins on points against Canelo, and nobody's going to KO him either. He has an excellent chin.

If Billy is capable of doing what he did with Lemieux (and the crowd doesn't torch the place in disgust) then there has to be a decision in his favour.

he's not remotely close to being capable of that, canelo is so much better than lemieux that it's silly

Jesus Christ himself could of spent the last 2000 years training and being on the big baby miller supplement program and he couldent do to Canelo what Billy did to Lemieux.

He'd have got dropped if not for the post holding him up. He was always susceptible to the high cross.

Yeah, but still a chance eh mate?gregregegg wrote: ↑21 Apr 2021, 02:51 Jesus Christ himself could of spent the last 2000 years training and being on the big baby miller supplement program and he couldent do to Canelo what Billy did to Lemieux.

I mean...I don't think BJS can do to Canelo what he did to Lemieux but lets not forget the effectiveness of running and negative "fighting". Canelo is a heavy muscle bound unit. BJS is fleet footed and defensively minded...he'll have some success early on.

Re: Billy Joe Saunders has 0 chance of getting a decision win VS Canelo
yea, back foot billy is the only chance, has to almost be so negative the crowd boos and hopes canelo gets cocky and tries to walk him down. unlikely though, canelo will just counter harder i guess, and launch some long lefts hooks to the body if billy tries to jab and scoot.
That said, i absolutely think billy has to be painfully negative here and just pray the judges back it, flick a jab and scurry. hard to beat canelo on points, harder when your being negitive, but a better chance than billy chinning canelo... Interested to know the ring size, surely canelos teams got em in a phone booth

The very best he can hope for is a draw and he'd need to win nearly every round convincingly to be awarded that.

he's tough as nails too, the one time he was stopped he was still upright![]()
Re the OP - no shit
Do people see BJS lasting the distance here ? Decent odds on Alvarez points.
