He will fight wilder for a vacant strap after fury or joshua are stripped
Re: Who should Ruiz fight after arreola
Dillian would only be interested in Ruiz if his fight with Arreola does big PPV buys, which it won't.
Ruiz should face Wilder, Ortiz or maybe even a Parker rematch. Even someone like Kabayel, Martin, Ajagba or Sanchez would be good enough if it keeps him busy until one of the bigger names is available.

Re: Who should Ruiz fight after arreola
All the world heavyweight belts are currently tied up for the next 12 to 18 months, which means that Andy will need to stay busy (and his choice of opponents is limited to those that are neither champions nor contenders likely to receive an imminent title-shot).
Andy Ruiz Jr. won’t be allowed to compete on a rival network like DAZN or ESPN (since he’s a PBC fighter) if he isn’t receiving a mega-payday.
Anyway, my understanding is that Andy Ruiz Jr. wanted a warm-up bout (against Arreola) prior to facing a marquee name.
And it's believed (or at least heavily-rumoured) that the marquee name that Ruiz Jr. will be facing next, is the fellow Spanish-speaking Luis 'King Kong' Ortiz later on this year.
If this bout doesn't happen, with Ruiz Jr. needing to engage in another interim stay-busy fight, then the most suitable borderline fringe-contender (fellow PBC stablemate) he could face, that also has a winning record, is Charles Martin.
That'll be an interesting fight, since both men were gym buddies and also sparring partners.
However, it's highly-likely that the long-term PBC vision is to pit Andy Ruiz Jr. against a hermit that goes by the name of Deontay Wilder, with 'The Bronze Bomber' currently in hiding after suffering a brutal beatdown inflicted by Tyson Fury.

The winner of Hunter Vs Hrgovic.
Re: Who should Ruiz fight after arreola
He should fight Wilder. Both he and Wilder are damaged goods right now
and both could help the other get back in it.
Personally I think Wilder knocks Ruiz into lala land.
And will also be Wilders last big harrah.

Re: Who should Ruiz fight after arreola
I think Ruiz vs Arreola will be an entertaining fight. Lots of punches thrown. Good 2 way action. Ruiz should win but he better be ready to throw a lot of shots to do so. If Arreola stays on his feet he will be able to win some rounds if Andy is not as active as he will be. If Arreola can stay up and win some rounds this could be a FOY candidate.
It is a good fight that lots of Mexican's will surely tune in to watch. I don't see any way this does embarrassing numbers.

As far as his next fight......Ruiz has lots of options. He's an acceptable opponent to anybody and should be able to pick from many options. He will help sell some PPVs whether it is Joshua 3...Wilder....Fury....Whyte. Ortiz is another that would sell nicely with Ruiz in the frame with him.

If he has to go lower than that the WBA strap may be an option. Maybe Martin too but he still does not bring anything to the table like the top 5 guys I listed do or even Bryan right now with that under belt. Not sure if Bryan can even defend that belt with all the crap that goes on at the WBA but if he could a match with Ruiz would probably bring him a large career sixed pay day. I don't see anybody else in the WBA rankings that Bryan would be better off matching up with.

If I’m Ruiz I’d try to get a fight with Ajagba (if he’d take it, which he probably wouldn’t). I think Ruiz would knock his stiff ass, well, even more stiff.

That's a difficult fight to make, due to cross-promotional/cross-network rivalries.Alittlebitofsugar wrote: ↑21 Apr 2021, 22:57 If I’m Ruiz I’d try to get a fight with Ajagba (if he’d take it, which he probably wouldn’t). I think Ruiz would knock his stiff ass, well, even more stiff.
For sure, Top Rank and the PBC have worked with each other before, but it usually only ever happens when the event can generate mega-money, resulting in both sides of the proverbial street receiving rather large slices of the pie.
Re: Who should Ruiz fight after arreola
I don't think so. Afrer joshua fight , every figher knows Ruiz with those two short T-Rex reach can eat you up if you get inside, but if you stay outside he can't do Shit.Alittlebitofsugar wrote: ↑21 Apr 2021, 22:57 If I’m Ruiz I’d try to get a fight with Ajagba (if he’d take it, which he probably wouldn’t). Lennox lewis had figured that out with David Tua , before applying on mike Tyson. Joshua was inexperienced, and now
everyone knows how to fight T-Rex Ruiz.

Re: Who should Ruiz fight after arreola
This fight is at least 5 years too late. And no way should it ever have been on PPV.
Re: Who should Ruiz fight after arreola
Forgetting for the moment that AJ has commitments that are going to tie him up for the foreseeable, Ruiz needs a much more credible win than Arreola, Martin or Bryan to justify a third fight with Joshua. I imagine Joshua has had quite enough of Ruiz and would prefer to fight someone he hasn't fought before.Kronkpride wrote: ↑21 Apr 2021, 18:52 As far as his next fight......Ruiz has lots of options. Ruiz would beat Wilder in my opinion. He has one of the best chins in the division as good as Duhaupas' was at the time he fought Wilder. Deontay eventually stopped him but he was able to eat everything Deontay threw at him and Duhaupas was never difficult to hit. Ruiz has way better defensive skills. He has the experience and know-how to keep clear of the right hand, and he would keep Wilder on the back foot where he isn't comfortable, applying constant pressure, getting inside and dismantling Wilder with his combinations and his blistering hand-speed. I don't even see it as close.
That is a win that would put him firmly in the title picture but whether he could get Wilder in the ring is another question entirely.

Re: Who should Ruiz fight after arreola
I'm more curious about what he will tip the scales at for Arreola. No point in looking further than that for now.
From what I have seen, Andy has been doing some proper gym time.

A motivated, full training camp, Kownaki and Ruiz would be a heck of an entertaining match. I'm fully up for that!gregregegg wrote: ↑24 Apr 2021, 06:35 Wilder, whyte, hrg vs hunter winner, Parker, Joyce, usyk.... those kinda guys.
