Fury vs Joshua a "one fight deal" ?

Post by Boxing Prospect »

"Tyson Fury reassured Eddie Hearn in person that he is fully focused on agreeing the dream fight with Anthony Joshua, the promoter revealed.

IBF, WBA and WBO champion Joshua and WBC titleholder Fury are now "on the verge" of a one-fight deal to decide the undisputed heavyweight championship in "the biggest fight in British boxing history," Hearn says.

It is expected to take place in Saudi Arabia at the end of July or early August."

So... No rematch... And no big show at Wembley... Or am I reading that wrong?

I'm thinking it might be in the phrasing....one fight deal for the undisputed......technically I would say by fight 2 it will be not for the undisputed.

Also sometimes its not good psychologically too announce it as a two fight deal before hand....it takes away some of the sparkle from fight 1 and also if it is a one sided pasting fight 2 might be a hard sell anyway

I think it's highly likely to be a one fight deal on paper.

They'll look at the lay of the land after the event and providing neither fighter had their credibility blown apart, or chooses to retire, they'll arrange the return because no other match comes close.

P.s. they've both only faced only one fighter that would get inside the top 100 heavyweights of all time (and he was at the very tail end of his career), yet this match has somehow been built into a mega-fight!

Pps don't come back at me with Wilder being in the Top 100 heavyweights.

Yeah, I’m guessing it’s referring to the undisputed fight. Also, it suits Hearn/Joshua as it’s AJ’s last contracted fight with sky. That way if he wins the first fight then he could take a colossal offer from DAZN.

Two fight deals are stupid anyway. Should always be a one fight deal, maybe with a rematch option.

Surely a rematch option is pretty much the same as a 2 fight deal!
