Nigel Benn question

Post by Old bones Ian »

I've seen that Benn's amatuer record was a reported 41-1, so who was the only person to beat Benn in the amatuers?

yeah thats right, he turned pro as well and racked about 15 wins before being stopped by herol graham. He had to retire because of the injuries he sustained in that fight. Shame really, I think they threw him in with graham way too soon.

Cheers , i used to watch Rod Douglas on the way up, he had quite a few televised . The illfated fight against Graham was a calculated risk, Graham was coming off a close loss to McCullum and in that fight he didn't look the same fighter he had been . So i can see why Douglas's handlers thought they'd take the fight.
Unfortunatly Graham turned in a near faultless display in stopping Douglas that night.

Something Graham did again a few years later after coming back when he stopped the american and favoured fighter Chris Johnson.
