Mike Tyson vs. Lennox Lewis | Exhibition - Negotiations for September
Mike Tyson, Lennox Lewis in negotiations for possible exhibition fight in September
Negotiations for a fight between Mike Tyson and Lennox Lewis are underway and the exhibition bout could be held in September, according to Azim Spicer, Tyson’s brother-in-law and business partner.
“We are looking into it as a possibility,’’ Spicer told USA TODAY Sports on Wednesday. “Still would need to paper it up, though.’’
Tyson has expressed confidence the fight will happen.
“I’m going to fight Lennox Lewis,’’ he told TMZ Tuesday night. “September.’’
Said Spicer, “September is possible but just getting started with negotiations.’’
Tyson, 54, and Lewis, 55, fought in June 2002, when Lewis scored an eighth-round knockout.
In November, Tyson returned to the boxing ring for the first time in 15 years and fought Roy Jones Jr. to a draw in their eight-round exhibition.
Lewis, the former heavyweight champion, last fought in 2003, when he beat Vitali Klitschko by TKO.
Tyson was in talks to fight Evander Holyfield May 29 before negotiations fell apart over money.

it will certainly get even worse
Re: Mike Tyson vs. Lennox Lewis | Exhibition - Negotiations for September
I posted in another thread, it seems past HW champions don't have respect for current crop of HWs champ.
People said Klitchos were boring, But in that era no past over the hill champion could make such ridiculous exhibition fights

I'd be very surprised if Lewis comes back for this just can't see it happening.

Vit will start twitching again if Lewis agrees to this.

Don't see what's in it for Lewis.
Tyson looked kind of good last time, and he's got his body into great physical shape, is rebuilding his brand and fortune.
Goot point about Vit!
Maybe there's life in the legends league idea, god forbid.

In a nutshell.
Whilst the potential superfights keep not happening, all these old fart exhibitions and fights involving YouTube bloggers etc get more and more attention and take the play away from genuinely great current actual professional boxers.
