Report: Felix Verdejo Questioned By Authorities Over Missing Woman In Puerto Rico

Felix Verdejo is a person of interest in an investigation of a missing woman in Puerto Rico.

The 27-year-old lightweight from San Juan has been summoned to meet with authorities who are presently detailed to search for Keishla Marlen Rodriguez Ortiz, also 27 and who has been missing since Thursday morning. Verdejo and Rodriguez were alleged to have been romantically involved at one point, according to a report from Puerto Rican news publication El Vocero.

Verdejo was contacted by Criminal Investigation Corps (CIC) agents on Thursday evening. Verdejo reportedly shut down the interview, not wishing to comment without his attorney present.

Sources have informed Boxing Scene that Verdejo and his attorney honored an agreement to meet with CIC officials on Friday as this goes to publish.

Rodriguez was declared missing after it was learned that she was absent from her job Thursday morning. The case was first reported after Bereliz Nichole, Rodriguez’s sister posted a video on her personal Facebook page to reveal that her sister was missing and asked for her fellow islanders for help in finding her.

Authorities in Puerto Rico have since issued a Pink Alert—a new bill passed last October to speed up the process in locating missing women due to the disturbingly growing trend of gender violence on the island. The alert is utilized for women 18 years of age and older whose disappearances are linked to domestic violence, hate crimes or crimes of a sexual nature.

According to the investigation, the last known location for Rodriguez was at Verdejo’s home where she allegedly arrived with a pregnancy test in tow and to inform the boxer that he was the father.

Verdejo was one of several people interviewed by police officials assigned to the case, as the investigation remains ongoing.

Verdejo (27-2, 17 KOs) has been out of the ring since a 9th round knockout loss to Masayoshi Nakatani last December at MGM Grand Conference Center in Las Vegas. The ESPN-televised bout saw Verdejo—a member of the 2012 Puerto Rico Olympic boxing team that competed in London—well ahead on all three scorecards, having scored two earlier knockdowns before suffering two knockdowns of his own in the fateful ninth round of their instant classic.

The defeat snapped a four-fight win streak for Verdejo, along with ruining plans for a targeted shot at reigning unified lightweight titlist Teofimo Lopez.

Anyone with viable information regarding the whereabouts of the missing Rodriguez are urged to contact P.R. officials at (787) 343-2020 or (787) 793-1234. She was last seen driving a 2016 Kia Forte upon leaving her home at Residencial Villa Esperanza in the Caimito section of San Juan.

no kidding, i mean we obviously need more details, but...

i think if ever there was 1 thing that would motivate dudes to suddenly kill a lady, it would be unwanted baby mamma news. add in that her last known location was his place......oh boy felix :oo

IF and i do say IF he's found guilty , Mmm killing his girlfreind AND HIS UNBORN BABY ,,, well i think an appepriate punishment would be chain him up , put him in a big bath , light a fire under it , and slowly boil the fooker to death , but that IF he's guilty

i wonder what the probability would be of him not being involved when his baby momma disappears on the same day she told him, his place being her last known location, her then being murdered and thrown into a river, a truck being filmed on video as her body is thrown in, and then that truck being found at his place

i mean , fair process and all that, but would be quite the coincidences if this all happened without him having anything to do with it, absolutely massively improbable

my guess is that she told him, he snapped and killed her, then he got his mates to help dispose of the body, but obviously didnt think the process through very well (e,g presence of the camera, having the truck they used traceable back to his place)

Someone who gets punched in the head for a living improperly committing a murder...no way! Unfortunately for him it’s not the 70s and it’s hard to get away with this stuff today unless you’re ridiculously vigilant. There’s cameras everywhere, cell towers, evolved DNA. Felix is probably f’d.

Felix Verdejo is officially in police custody.

The 27-year-old lightweight has surrendered to federal authorities Sunday evening in San Juan, Puerto Rico following a weekend-long investigation into the disappearance and murder of Keishla Marlen Rodriguez Ortiz

Maybe it's a crime of passion, but at the same, it looks like a lot of forethought went into the murder. First, he purchased some drug in a San Juan neighborhood. After that, when he met her and told her to get into his car, he smacked her, probably hard enough to knock her out. Then he injected the drug (whatever it was) into her using a syringe. From there, he bound her hands and legs with wire, then tied her to a heavy block. The last step was throwing her off of a bridge while firing pistol at her as she splashed into the water.

Assuming all this is true, it sounds like Verdejo had a preconceived plan of some sort. This fact, coupled with the nature of the charges (deliberate murder of an unborn baby, among others) make him death penalty eligible.

This sounds like really serious stuff. Worse trouble than anything else I can remember a boxer doing over the past few decades.
ya after reading more that's come out, it was defo premeditated and thought out

i think they got him on camera too, so im almost inclined to stop saying 'IF' he did it

It immediately remained me of Valero. It's very sad to hear about and it's very unlikely that he is not guilty.

The body that was found in a lake was corroborated to be hers.

I got a lot of mixed feelings. First of all, she should not have been involved with a married man. At least she should have left him when he got married to the other lady. Much as we men enjoy married women too, we are a-holes when we get involved with one just the same...we are....that is called breaking a marriage, which can lead to other types of consequences like murder and suicide.

That of course, does NOT MEAN she should have been murdered. I feel sorry for her and for her unborn baby. She should not have died this way. According to what I read she had even offered to raise the child by herself and not say anything about it to the press.....so why was she killed? I don't understand...(unless it was his wife who did the killing and not him but it all does point to him being the killer)

With the deaths of former Menudo member Ray Reyes (a celebrity I met in person back in 1998, a very decent man) on April 31st, and former governor Carlos Romero Barcelo tonight and this murder, it has been a very tragic few days in Puerto Rico...

Why don't men who want affairs just have affairs with other men? It would be so much easier. Men just want a good fornicate. Who better than another man? It would prevent so much drama.

His wife was questioned a few times. She said she was aware of the affair.

Tragic and gruesome story.
Why does that report keep stating "Witness" rather than Accomplice.....
If the guy that helped do all that shit comes forward as a witness, sounds like they might get off lighter...

Yeh. That’s the whole point. Help common a murder, then become a ‘witness’ so they get a slap on the wrist?

its prob just be a legal technicality since from that perspective it's being used to indicate that the accomplice also witnessed what happened, i doubt it means the guy gets off, but then again im not a lolyer
