20 feet is the max for BBBofC fights.

It doesn’t really matter, because the dispute has already been resolved.

The “conflict” wasn’t really about the size of the ring.

https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.mirr ... 039518.amp

The next “controversy” will either relate to Canelo’s choice of gloves or the sponginess of the ring canvas.
Then the hand-wrapping controversy that will follow when they attempt to make Canelo re-wrap or object to his wraps.

Every trick in the book going on here from the pikeys. :stop:

Wasn't the Ruiz Jr. V Joshua 2 fight in a 22' ring?

the fight in saudia arabia? i dunno, if it was, it wasnt under the bbbc. the bbbc rules explicitly state only up to 20 feet, and can be as small as 16

Both the WBO and the WBC state that the ring must be between 18 feet to 24 feet in size.

I couldn't find anything in the IBF and WBA rules.

The BBBofC rules clearly state that 20-feet is the maximum ring size in the UK, but that’s out-of-scope for the Canelo-Saunders fight.

Interestingly though, Leonard-Hagler and Fury-Klitschko took place in a 24-foot ring. And the AJ-Ruiz Jr. rematch was a 22 footer.

Nothing more needs to be said about the strategies employed by the victors in all those bouts. :TU:

Max De Luca = Has worked on one Canelo bout. And also gave Kell Brook the benefit of the doubt in his 117-111 lopsided scorecard.

Glenn Feldman = Has worked on four Canelo bouts. And was criticised for favouring Keith Thurman in his 114-113 scoring of the Manny Pacquiao fight.

I don't actually recall anything particularly controversial about Tim Cheatham's sorecards.

None of the three assigned judges have worked on any of Saunders' bouts.

fornicate wish the could of invested a bit more in an undercard... spend 30-40 million on a main event and 100k on the undercard... if you spend a million bucks wisely you can get a great undercard... this is a 1 fight weekend...

I wonder if the poor undercard is due to Canelo being a promotional free agent or the calibre of fighters that Eddy Reynoso trains/manages?

Four names regularly appear on Canelo’s recent undercards and at least one of them is a fellow gym stablemate: Frank Sanchez, Keyshawn Davis, Marc Castro and Christian Alan Gomez Duran (i.e. appearing on two of his last three outings).

The media are claiming that Eddie Hearn will use this weekend's Canelo-Saunders bout as an opportunity to formally announce the Fury-Joshua fight.

First time I think i remember anyone get any emotion out of canelo (I’m sure it’s happened befor but my memory is like a fish). Can only be a good thing, sure he might bash ya worse for it, but a bit of rage always makes sticking to a perfect robot game plan a bit trickier...

Amir Khan: Canelo is Very Quick - Sorry To Say, He Will Knock Saunders Out

"I’ve never fought in any atmosphere as overwhelming as that," Khan told Daily Mail. "There was a big crowd of Brits shouting for me but they couldn’t be heard. The Mexican sound was huge but with Canelo, there is something different about the noise. Something more powerful. Somehow it generates huge, unique energy on which he draws. Billy Joe had better be ready for it."

"Beware. Everyone who watches Canelo from outside the ring thinks he’s slow. He’s not. He’s very quick through his timing. He makes you think you are in a slow-paced fight. Believe that and you make a big mistake. You will find yourself getting hit with big shots. Body and head," Khan said.

"Being quick myself, I found it fairly easy to catch him with some good shots. But he is very good at closing down the ring and has a good chin. He is happy to take punches so that he can land really telling shots. By the time he fought me his punching was becoming really powerful. He’s gone on to prove it by winning world titles up to light heavyweight and now back down a notch at super middleweight. Billy Joe has the style that can give Canelo a few problems for a few rounds. But, sorry to say, he gets knocked out in the sixth."

I’m a little surprised about the number of votes predicting a stoppage victory for Canelo, considering the existence of the following statistical facts (spanning the Mexican’s 21 fights within the last decade):

• His bouts typically last nine rounds
• 48% of his contests have gone the distance
• He's only stopped four opponents within the last five years and one of them was a between rounds retirement
• Only seven opponents failed to make it past the halfway mark and every single one of them had previously or subsequently suffered early stoppage defeats to inferior punchers or smaller men than Canelo
• The Amir Khan victory might be Canelo's only stoppage he's scored over a genuinely elusive fleet-footed boxer within the last decade (I personally don't consider Kermit Cintron as being a pure boxer, despite his movement)

Therefore, it's reasonable to conclude that Alvarez's power is decent, but not extraordinary. And Billy Joe Saunders has never been knocked down.

Whilst I personally think it’s entirely feasible for Canelo to beat Saunders by stoppage, the most probable outcome is a decision victory.

And if the Mexican does manage to score the KO this weekend, then it’ll be a truly impressive performance (considering Billy Joe's durability and elusiveness).

I agree with Canelo decision but it’s also conceivable that BJS gets gradually worn down for a late stoppage
