Whyte: It Would Be Good if I Blow Away Arreola in Four or Five, Thought He Beat Ruiz

Heavyweight contender Dillian Whyte has tabbed Chris Arreola as a potential opponent for a fight in the United States.

Arreola was in action last Saturday night in California, when he put in a better than expected performance against former unified champion Andy Ruiz.

He dropped Ruiz in the second round and rocked him early in the third. Ruiz eventually made adjustments and outboxed Arreola to a unanimous decision win.

Earlier this year, Whyte got his career back on track when he avenged a knockout loss from last August, by stopped Alexander Povetkin in their rematch.

Whyte's promoter, Eddie Hearn, has discussed the idea of booking his boxer in a stay-busy contest in the summer, possibly in America.

"I think also Chris Arreola might be somebody to look at, because he just acquitted himself well against Adam Kownacki and Andy Ruiz," Whyte told Sky Sports' Toe 2 Toe podcast.

"It would be good if I could blow him away in four or five rounds as well, because my name has been matched with Andy Ruiz and those kind of guys. I thought he [Arreola] won the fight with Andy Ruiz, to be honest. I thought he won it by a split decision. He's another for us to look at as well. He's well known, a tough guy. Three-time world title challenger. Very good Mexican fighter as well.

"Arreola fights like a real Mexican unlike that fat, fake Mexican. Like I said before, Candy Ruiz is all stomach and no heart. He had 30 pounds of fat sucked out of him and he still looks like a messy blob."

Whyte feels confident that he would upstage the recent victory by Ruiz, by stopping Arreola within a few rounds of action.

"He's a joker. If I fight Chris Arreola, I'll knock him out. It's not disrespect to Chris Arreola, he's a good fighter. A tough guy, obviously he's got a great chin. If you're at the level that we are, according to him, top-five heavyweight in the world? He didn't even put me in the top five heavyweights in the world. He put me in the top 15 or something, when he did his top-five ranking," Whyte said.

"The fact is I'm No 3 in the Ring magazine rankings and have beaten three of the current top 10, including guys who've beaten Ruiz. He should be knocking Chris Arreola out. If I fight Chris Arreola, I'll stop him. Five rounds, Chris Arreola will get stopped."

Why not just go straight after Ruiz?

He’s gone from wanting Wilder to a guy 10 years past prime.

You know , i'm not so sure he wants this one either , he wanted a crack at the title he got it and then refused it ,, he wants to fight the big names , twoo are locked up , together . (AJ- fURY ) Two are looking to get back in the big time mix and would probably take it if offerred and i mean actually offered not just talked about ( Ruiz -- Wilder ) 2 are playing waiting games to see what will happen with AJ - Fury ,,, that would be ( Usyk --- Joyce ) but while waiting i doubt any of the last 4 i mentioned would be too concerned about fighting Whyte ,,, so now he turns his attention to Arreola ,, give it him , because Arreola won't read the script and will probably KO him .

He'll probably end up with Gatton , the rugby player who just ko'd Brown .

Easy PPV money.

Finally the penny is starting to drop with what Whyte is about.

Yep. Cherry picked opponents, in the UK, on PPV. He'll put off fighting a top fighter until he's ready to cash out.
Don't know how he gets away with it ,, well i do actually the reason is HEARN

Even Arreola doesn't think he won
Yeh. He was only upset the cards where wide.

How does Whyte coming up with the conclusion it should have been a split decision?

If he scored the fight himself, it’s just one scorecard. It’s subjective. He can’t say 2 judges should have had Arreola winning and the 3rd Ruiz

There are probably over 20 US-based heavyweights that we'd all rather see Whyte face than Arreola, some would probably even be an easier fight but they're more of an unknown quantity which allows us to see something new rather than the recycled and past it punching bag of Arreola.

On my card I had Arreola winning, but unfortunately for him I was overruled by myself, who both had Ruiz winning.
