fighters who defy sterotypes

Post by margaret thatcher »

watching kurbanov, i noticed he has a style unlike most russians, who tend to be more upright boxers or come ahead stalkers. he instead was bouncing around , doing shoulder rolls...doing the type of 'athletic' style a lot of young yanks want to try

what other stereotype defiers are there

miguel vasquez: hit and run and hold, negative mexican

victor ortiz: mexican quitter

loma: athletic white guy

joe smith/caleb plant: world class whiteboi americans

sebastian fundora: extremely tall inside fighter

sergio martinez: very fluid and 'natural' despite not starting boxing until his 20s

richard lartey: not made of teak at the moment i'm afraid

Your only decent post ever.

He was always respectful and soft-spoken, suited and booted for the press at conferences. And a gypsy.

When boxing attracted the average folk. A gentleman’s sport. Henry Cooper.

It was probably Ricky Hatton who brought in the trash side of it. From Hamed’s lead.

What's that got to do with the trash side of things?

Nigel Benn associated with notorious drug dealers which is far more trashy than anything Ricky Hatton ever did during his career.

Don't know but boxing has never been a "gentleman's sport" it has a long history of involvement with organised crime, killers, sex offenders, woman beaters, racism, sexism etc.

To be fair, against the stereotype would be a fighter who didn't use the third person analogy.
