Sprott's chances?

Post by lvlarc »

I haven't seen any talk of this but Michael Sprott is in with Ruslan Chagaev tomorrow on Sturm/Castillejo undercard. After Sprott's recent robbery in Austria, what do with think of Chagaev?

Unbeaten and some good wins over Calloway & Virchis.

Is this fight for real? Boxrec has it scheduled, but have seen no mention of this on britishboxing.net :-?

Tough for Sprott, this guy is alot better than Virchis. Sprott was robbed, but Chagaev won more convincingly again.

I think he could do well for a few rounds, but ultimately Chagaev will get to him.

Looks in good shape for Sprott though. I didn't like the hanging gut in his last few fights.

Yes, a pretty good theory made on the current scene was that Chagaev may have given Virchis too much respect, or was running (slightly) or was wary of his power, hence the lucklustre(ish) performance against him.

I have a bad feeling Sprott won't get quite the same, and may get stopped in 6-10 in a Williams-SSS fashion I'm afraid.

I'm sure Sprott's getting paid handsomely for these fights, but I really would like to see him get some wins under his belt. Skelton-aside, I think he could pretty much clear up domestically right now. And although I can't quite believe it, he is still on the relatively young side at 31, and has time to mount a serious onslought in Europe in another while, ideally getting a European fight in the UK.

Chagaev's mother died the day before his fight with Virchis, I bet have influeted his performance a lot.
