Sick of incompetent judges. Why are we still using only 3?

Post by zeroprobe »

Judges so many occasions are horrendous.

I had Canelo up one round at the time. Why can we not have at least a verified media open scorecard like Fightscore do below which seems to get most fights correct. They had the first GGG vs Canelo fight right. Imagine all boxing media get verified login and complete a scorecard.

It not acceptable when fighters put it all out there when the public clearly get the right card and yet it gets stolen away from them.

I was only 1 point out of the average scorecard.

Canelo was more than one round up at the time of the stoppage. That’s for definite. At least two but probably more.

i had him up 6-2, scores were fine, kinda weird to complain about canelo-saunders and not the horrificly scored conway-cissokho on the undercard

Saunders won the 5th and the 7th clearly, the 6th closely. Canelo won the rest clearly.

I had Billy winning 1 round with 2 even, Saunders getting WAY too much credit for hanging in there.

OK, not the most perfect of examples.

But the question still stands, How about some wider based scoring average from certified people in the boxing industry.

Can you find any outrageous average scorecards from that Fightscore app?

I felt Canelo was in control and comfortably ahead. I think I had it 6-2 as well at the time of the stoppage. Some rounds were close there might have been 2 swing rounds that would could have made the fight even, if you gave them to BJS, but like I said Canelo seemed well in control.

I'm more disappointed in how the fight ended because it was a good fight, but it was becoming abundantly clear that Canelos early body work was beginning to take it's toll and he was getting closer and closer to BJS. The stoppage was coming one way or the other, but it's never sadisfying when a fight ends so obruptly in that fashion, especially one of this magnitude.

Scoring is subjective.

Look at the closer rounds?
1, 6 and 7..

4 clear Canelo rounds.. 2 clear BJS rounds.. the rest subjective.

Canelo was doing what Fury did in Wilder 1.. looking flashy. Air-jabbing.

He didn’t land that many either.

Fury-Wilder 1 was a totally different fight. Fury was indeed outscoring Wilder and was controlling the action.

In the BJS-Canelo fight it was Canelo, who was landing more clean shots and controlling the fight in the majoriry of rounds.

Wow people thought Canelo was winning at the time of the stoppage? I had BJS winning 5-3. Canelo was loading up 1 body shot at a time, BJS was jabbing and landing the occasional combo. I am not a fan of either.

I felt that Canelo was leading the bout by a 77-76 margin.

However, two of the official judges had it wider, by a 78-74 margin.

And this meant that Saunders (without suffering the injury) had to win the final four rounds to only achieve the draw.

That just seemed very wrong to me.

I felt that Saunders was very competitive, he was always in the fight, and many of the rounds were tricky to score.

So the official scorecards were slightly biased towards Canelo.

The official scoring wasn’t outrageously bad though. It would be unfair to suggest corruption.

Canelo was fighting on “home” turf and had the crowd maniacally applauding every single punch he landed.

It’s impossible for the judges to remain impartial in that sort of environment.

All foreign fighters much appreciate the likelihood of the scoring going against them whenever the rounds are difficult to score.

Whether that’s fair or unfair, it is what it is. :TU:

I think you're going to find the majority felt the fight was close but had Alvarez ahead. I could have seen it anywhere from Canelo being up 4 rounds to the fight being even. It was a close, competitive fight with alot of close rounds.

I just felt Alvarez seemed in control. He really was dictating the fight and waiting for the right time to jump on Saunders and do some real damage. Saunders to me didn't have that option of turning the fight around at any given time, but you just knew it was only a matter of time before Alvarez did.

If he won the 6th closely, that means Canelo got it.

Do still wonder how much sway commentary has on a fight and how fans score it, and how their narrative leads to some fan cards...

The fight didn't go the distance, but people acting like Saunder's got or was going to get a fair shake is laughable. As was pointed out Saunders would have to win all of the final 4 to get a draw.

He was never going to beat Canelo on the cards. Why even bother defending the circus.

I had it 5-3 Canelo at the end of eight, but some of the rounds were really close one way or the other. It depends what you like when judging.
Saunders was doing ok, but there was only ever going to be one winner in retrospect. Alvarez had power in his punches, landed the bigger shots, was on the front foot and Billy couldn't really make an impact on him.
Saunders make a mistake dipping low like that too close to Canelo in the eighth and from then on, it was all over.
In addition to Canelo being a really good boxer, it's very hard to beat Alvarez on the cards these days anyhow.

The commentary in the US was going waaaay out of its way to make it look like BJS was doing more than he was in reality achieving. But, based on round 7, and the beginning of 8, I thought that it was getting interesting.

Canelo lured me in along with BJS.

mannix has even come out and said that he was generous to bjs scoring live.....watching with sound off, i really had no idea what ppl were seeing when i checked the rbrs, no way was pawing slappy bill even or ahead, the difference in punch quality was huge and bill was missing a huge number of his jabs because he was nervous of fully committing
