Round-by-Round: Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez vs. Billy Joe Saunders - 8 May 2021
Re: Round-by-Round: Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez vs. Billy Joe Saunders - 8 May 2021
Recent "opponent"....Yildrim. Calum Smith tried but was out of his depth he did, however, show the guts we know BS doesn't have.

Eubank jnr's reaction to BS bailing out was priceless
Not sure why he's watching the fight at the Dentists
At least we know Eubank jnr would take his beating like a man.

Saunders jacked. Smart move as he was getting stopped the next round anyway and would have been hurt bad, especially with that eye.
No sane human would fight on with that eye injury so fully understandable for me. Still, it`s quitting none the less.
Had Canelo up 5 rounds to 3

I think it’s also time to put an end to the ‘we’re gypsies & we’re fighting men’ bollocks.
Him & Fury never defend their belts, fight once a year, fail drug tests, associate with scumbags & embarrass the sport.
Real fighting men are your Ricky Burns, Carl Froch, Anthony Crolla, Josh Warrington types who take on all comers, fight through injuries & regularly entertain us.

Just watched the fight, I had it 6-2 Canelo. Typical of a moronic bully like Saunders to quit as soon as the going gets tough.

Let him enjoy it. When someone has been that much of a pudendum over the years it’s important they get ripped.Allas wrote: ↑09 May 2021, 03:56Not a Saunders fan but Eubank setting his alarm to get up to watch Saunders fight the #1 P4P a week after he’s just gone 10 rounds with Marcus Morrison about 5 fights down the bill of a dreadful PPV card. I bet the 10k he’s won tonight was double his purse last week.
Don’t wanna open a can of worms either but you’d think Eubank, with the history of his dad and fighters injuries, would have a bit more humility. Fighting Canelo with 2 eyes is dangerous enough never mind 1.
Re: Round-by-Round: Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez vs. Billy Joe Saunders - 8 May 2021
It was Canelo's fight since the start. Saunders began to make it more or less competetive in the 5th round, but in the 8th it went to the initial scenario. Canelo's superior power, handspeed and timing worked for him. A decent effort for BJS, no shame in RTD after such damage suffered. The better man won. I had it 77-75 for Canelo.
Re: Round-by-Round: Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez vs. Billy Joe Saunders - 8 May 2021
I thought it odd that Froch (or anyone for that matter) scored the 1st for Canelo, a round in which he basically walked about while BJS actually did some boxing.
Re: Round-by-Round: Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez vs. Billy Joe Saunders - 8 May 2021
I scored the first for Canelo as he landed more (body shots) and controlled the action, I only actually gave Billy 1 round, (I had 2 even)
Re: Round-by-Round: Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez vs. Billy Joe Saunders - 8 May 2021
What planet are you people on scoring rounds for Saunders? He landed zero significant punches. None. Infact i think he might have got 1 dig in actually (a sneaky left hook on the break).
This was a masterclass in effective punching from Canelo, he was landing hard stinging body-ripping punches in every single round. It seems the effectiveness of punching is completely and entirely lost on what's left of the boxing audience.

I thought Saunders was competitive. He wasn't landing hard shots, but he did make Canelo miss a lot.
Canelos tactics were very risky, loading up on big shots, though he did land some meaty body shots along the way.
What a pussyhole Saunders is, he quit like a bitch.
All this Gypsy fighting man bollox can be put to bed now.

False. There were some in the 5th, 6th and 7th. The downstairs-upstars combo by BJS was even highlighted after the 6th round.Ricky wrote: ↑09 May 2021, 04:34 What planet are you people on scoring rounds for Saunders? Little "stay away from me" paws, the difference in the quality of punches landed was like the difference between a Rolls Royce
and Vauxhall Corsa.

Those ones can't be compared with Canelo's shots, but still they were cleanly landed punches.Ricky wrote: ↑09 May 2021, 04:41DrDuke wrote: ↑09 May 2021, 04:37False. ya that's why it wasnt close for me, billy was mostly throwing pattery shots that he was hesistant to commit to. he landed very very little high quality shots, nearly all those came from canelo....regularly knocked bills head back, pushed him back with shots, or landed clean to the body

I agree it wasn’t close, but I gave Saunders 2 rounds. Sounds like Rick didn’t give him any?

It's only a few months since Warrington quit his world title to avoid his mandatory.a force wrote: ↑09 May 2021, 03:48 I think it’s also time to put an end to the ‘we’re gypsies & we’re fighting men’ bollocks.

Warrington showed tremendous guts going out on his shield against Lara.
Everything was going wrong, but Josh took what was coming his way like a champ. BS did not.
Re: Round-by-Round: Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez vs. Billy Joe Saunders - 8 May 2021
Yes its really puts into perspective the difference in fighting spirit. Warrington was clearly outclassed and taking a thumping but bit down and fought on - Saunders tasted pain and quit as fast as he could get back to his corner.
