I watched the prelims for the DAZN show last night and what struck me was how the opponents of both Davis brothers AJ’s Marc Castro were all genuinely trying to win.

Kelvin Davis was floored and whilst Castro and Keyshawn were never in any trouble they coped well with relatively tough opponents.

At similar stages U.K. fighters tend to fight journeyman who don’t throw much but try to last the distance or obscure Eastern European opponents who fold fairly easily.

Surely it’s better to learn/develop in fights where your opponent tries to win?

In fairness they all had paper records, but they came to win and acted like they wanted a bigger win on their records. Bouts like those help a fight far more than a public spar or squash match like we get here
