As much as many wont want to see him get another pay day there's still quite a lot of fights out there for Saunders if he was to carry on...

Rematch vs Eubank Jr with their bad blood could be interesting....Jr is possibly a more refined boxer since their first.
Callum Smith for the bragging rights of best in Britain at SMW.
He could probably have a go at Golovkin, get on his bike and nick a points win
An ex champ to feed to Benevidez, Munguia or Charlo?

This loss doesn't make him irrelevant in and around the middle division...and we all know he has no shame, so won't go into hiding fully....of course his attitude and dedication to the sport might change some. Time will tell.

Yes - it was very few liking him before this; there are even less now.
If you going to do the big talk .. you have to at least try and walk the walk. It looked very much like he quit the first time he was hurt .. soon as he felt pressure he folded like a cheap plastic deckchair.
The camera was on him the whole time in the corner at the end of the 8th .. they could see he was going to be quitting the same as everyone else.
To top it off the crying as he went into the ambulance. Pitiful ending for a self proclaimed `fighting man`.

Such an ending couldnt be scripted worse/better for someone so universally disliked.

He can bounce back if he wants too. A loss against the best P4P guy since Mayweather Jr isn't anything to be ashamed about. Still plenty of big fights for him out there to pursue. He did alright.

Billy Joes done unreal to get where he got last night,he boxed well,it went how it went, that's fighting, that's life things happen you win some you lose some

Nothing but support for Billyjoe I'm seeing

Jnr can laugh all he wants,he's still got an L on his record that Bill gave him,not an L from a top top man like Canelo, and if there was a rematch Billy Joe would beat him again, waste of time Jnr challenging Canelo talking about real fights he's tailor made for him

Where are you seeing that support, mate? You are Romany, right? Do you not think he's made you all look a bit daft by the way he's spoken about gypsy fighting spirit, never quitting, etc and then not backed it up?

Yes.
I think he's done unreal to get where he is at,onto the world stage in a big fight and a shot at one of the biggest wins a man can get,he got in fair condition and shape and it just wasn't his night

No I don't,that's like saying one person out of an entire community can make a full community look like drug dealers because one got locked up for selling drugs :maybe: doesn't work like that in my eyes, and it shows that some people will only see things in their own way for you to say that,I'm sure in the past or in the future there will be a time where you say to somebody don't say that because of one man,I've seen it time an again on here and in real about all sorts of things

There's travelling lads who have stood in pouring rain punching lumps out of each other showing all the heart in the world

There's also people from all walks of life who have fought and had enough heart and bottle for 10 men,

There's also people from all walks of life who will chop you to pieces without a second thought, doesn't men the entire community will though does it :maybe:

Saunders can never live this down. His true heart got exposed to everyone and all the talk was proven to be just talk. The people around him and his fans can try to spin a narrative but they won't fool anyone.

Oiky - agree with your assessment. One mans behaviour shouldn’t reflect on the whole community

As an outsider looking in :

On one hand he is a great example to the traveller community, achieving the level of success he has done as an amateur and pro ( although I think like most UK WBO champs the world title wasn’t as prestigious as some of our other champions with other belts)

On the other hand a lot of his behaviour generally isn’t my cup of tea and I don’t see him as great role model to anyone because of that.

I did share Jimmy’s thoughts that
BJS performance might be received negatively within the travelling community because :

1) the “fighting men” “gypsy warrior” and “going out on your shield” talk that Billy spoke about didn’t actually materialise
2) BJS is a high profile member of a relatively small community with a proud fighting culture

Either way I am sure Tyson will maintain the gypsy warrior brand just like he did with his Undertaker move versus Wilder :)

It's not acceptable to be racist against any group,

Billy is the one who has time and again brought up that he is a gypsy and suggested that gypsies are cut from a different cloth than everybody else when it comes to fighting spirit, willingness to go out on their shield, etc... I'm asking if other gypsies feel let down or not by him today. That's all.

Tyson Fury has shown himself to be brave as a lion thus far, getting up against Wilder was remarkable. Is that because he's a gyspy or is that because he's a brave bloke full stop?

My wife’s a Irish traveller, my children are, my brother in laws and most family, nephews, nieces, all my in-laws, my own dad etc are Gypsy’s & travellers or of blood/stock,

Gyspys/travellers are not a race  it’s a great misconception, always any discrimination is called racism, it’s not, people always described them as a race, it’s not, same as Jews are not they’re own race.

And as long has the fighting spirit/never quit etc, from my own experiences in community is a load of nonsense, it’s a sport and something they’ve always grown up with enjoyed and taken part in and a way to settle differences but not this big persona and false facade that is portrayed

They are white europeans that choose to live a chaotic dysfunctional life style.

At any point they could send their kids to school, pay taxes and live a normal existence it is their choice not to.

Romany heritage can be traced back to 14th century India, many similarities in romany words and Indian words, many travellers arrived years ago with different names and took on english names to help them get work and make them less suspicious to the eyes of where ever they was stopping at at the time

One example is the smith family, who's name is petulengro but they took the name smith,it's a big gypsy family but also a very common name outside of the commuity, this is for the work purposes and that I just mentioned

Romany, English Gypsy what ever you want to call them date back centuries from India & Egypt, hence the word GYPsy, & travellers are white Europeans from Ireland, and they choose to live by the ways of their culture & heritage which is there right, it’s not chaotic or dysfunctional, so that’s very derogatory and rude for you to say, who is to say this way of life is wrong and you’re is right ? And who says they don’t pay taxes, all of my family and all I know do, don’t get sucked into be discriminative by listening to main stream and not knowing for yourself
