the pandemic of rewarding superficial boxing

Post by margaret thatcher »

i've really noticed there is sizable amount of fans who cant tell the difference between totally trivial, superficial air boxing and effective boxing. you get this in cases where there is a fighter who is so committed to staying out of range and weary of not getting hit, that they'll box from too far out, paw a lot and pull most of their punches short, and hardly commit to any offense--so that the shots they do land are often weak slaps

yet, because they are moving about, jabbing, do herky jerky 'cute' stuff, a lot of people simplistically and automatically take this as them outboxing their opponent, when they are really doing nothing of the sort.

it was seen in selby-kambosos and saunders-canelo. it's also what anyone who really rates hughie fury is smoking. you can appreciate 'smart boxing' and whatever, but actually take a look at make sure the dude isnt just putting on some superficial fake boxing!
