My brother was diagnosed with a badly swollen achilles, an injury picked up playing Badminton. 3 months later a second consultant viewing the initial scans said it had snapped, which in essence meant he should not have had as much movement in the ankle as he had.

I am of the opinion that any boxer can quit for whatever reason they deem fit/necessary - saying that - it's a bad look if the boxer in question was vocal about other boxers heart/courage and just acted like an absolute gobshite in general - I felt sorry and bad for Dubois - Saunders is just his Karma catching up with him and Buddha allowed us all to watch. :TU:

coneye wrote: 09 May 2021, 01:16 Well will he ever live it down ,,Not the loss , but the way it happenned ,,, Start with there will always be arguments has to wether or not he was , winning or losing , thats subjective to how you see and score a fight ,,, personally i had it 4-3 Canelo ... Going into the 8th ,,, then Billy copped a hard one and went to peices , he struggled and got belted in the 8th ,,, making it 8-5 Canelo ..

Now the interesting thing is , i noticed the eye when he sat down , it was bruised and a slight cut UNDER THE EYE , i could'nt make out what they were asking him , but noticed 2 maybee 3 times Billy saying NO with a shake of his head ,, i assumed they were asking him you OK or you want to go on ,, but it was a definete NO .

mY LAD SAT NEXT TO ME SAID THERE GONNA STOP IT AND I SAID BULLSHIT THE CUTS NOT OPENED ITS UNDER THE EYE , AND THE EYES JUST BRUISED ,, THEN IT WAS STOPPED ,

What do i make of that , personaly i think Billy Big Bollocks , has'nt dropped his Bollocks yet ,, that Aussie girl the other week shown more heart than him .....

OK ok , before all his nuthuggers come on talking damage lost sight ect ,, at that time in that corner , the close up of his eye shown swelling , bit of bruising and a small cut ,,, something that 1500 pound a fight journey men recieve and fight through every other day around the world ,, do they quit on there stool not usually at least not till the doc pulls them out or the cuts opened , or the eye is completly shut .

Why his nut huggers will ask should Billy carry on . I'll tell you why, he's a profesional who got paid MILLIONS ,yes MILLIONS, to go out there and leave it in the ring. Look at how much other lesser paid pro's have gone through before they quit ,, he quit because two things happenned ,, 1 Canelo sussed it all out and applied the pressure and power shots in rnd 8 , he hurt Billy bollocks ,, and billy seen his out with his eye and took it .

Here in Australia it gets very hot often , and you see men and women out playing tennis , , after an hour they say stuff this its too hot , pack up and go home ,,, and so they should why get heat stroke over a game of tennis ,,,, But when the pro's play and its hot they go 3 hrs or so WHY because there paid millions too do so .

Pro boxing is no different , Billy got paid millions to go on not quit ,,, Has numerous people have said ,, what else can you expect from a pro boxer who bullies people in the street ,
100% agree with you,I seen BJS saying NO a few times and I knew he was gonna get pulled out. BJS face said everything to me,he didn't wanna know and didn't wanna carry on. He was lucky to finish that round without being knocked down tbh.

Quite a few years ago my wife and i were holidaying on Majorca. We were having a drink in a little bar one afternoon and got talking to the owner. He asked us were we coming to his show later that evening; he boasted about how great a singer he was - informed us that people came from all over the island to see and hear him perform. He had pictures on the wall of him with some famous people in his bar .. he boasted these people were big fans of his.

We were dubious, but decided to visit later.

He was terrible. We couldnt stop laughing how sh1t he was. Its a story my wife and I often recall when reminiscing of times on Majorca ... he will always be that useless little fella in Majorca who said he could sing - but couldn`t.

Truth is, he was a better singer than I will ever be. But the point is I am not a singer - nor have I ever tried to be, or ever boasted to be.

I have read a couple replies on different discussions calling us who are critisizing BJS for quitting as keyboard warriors. And that simply doesnt make sense - nobody here is saying they would have fought on with an eye injury.

But much like that useless little fella in Majorca who said he could sing - but couldnt; BJS boasted he had no quit in him and would always go out on his shield ... but he couldn`t.

Did you not see the bit where the cornerman was using the endswell to try and push the swelling away? BJS didnt look in any discomfort during that ... Tibbs asks him something and BJS says no ... then once its been announced its stopped you see BJS noticeably squinting as if to emphasise the eye.

Right up there with David Hayes baddie big toe ..

Aw cmon! I can't stand BJS but you could see the crater that punch left in his eye socket. Comparing it to Haye's sore toe is daft. I think that punch ended BJS career last night, it looked worse than the injury Brook got vs GGG.

Trying to pass these rules onto `keyboard warriors` who draw attention to the unwritten rule about quitting in a fight is just ignorant.

BJS quit. No doubt his eye was painful ... although as painful as it was he didnt know it was broken .. he may have suspected it, and it really may have been ... but he didnt know; just like he didnt know if the pain would ease up in the next few minutes. The warrior mentality as Josh Warrington recently showed is that as tough as things are - they are tough enough to get through them .. and win.

BJS quit at the first opportunity. Soon as the shot landed he shut up shop. The bully could see he was gonna get bullied .. and quit soon as he possibly could.

The ending played to a predictable conclusion of when a bully get tested.
Good Post, my thoughts exactly.

I’ve watched it again and that eye looks in a right state at the end. Caved in at the bottom.

He landed some shots and showed again how a good mover can cause Canelo problems.

Thing is mate, what this fight and a few others recently have reminded me, there’s British fighters with these star am records boxed in the elite teams for years, and when it comes to the top level fights, against intelligent aggression, they can’t sustain it, and the fights play out the same every time: Degale, BjS, Campbell, at a lower level Josh Kelly, both Selby brothers, Gavin didn’t move his feet quite so much but same thing all of them have two common denominators:

‘Good (even lovely) movers’.......

Can’t defend themselves by any other means than using their feet.

So when they finally get to fight the two or three decent or even (if they’re being a bit brave) very good fighters of their entire career, they end up folding, gradually looking more and more ragged and desperate as their legs give out, cos when they’re against someone who knows how to make the ring small with small movements, be patient and cautious whilst taking opportunities to the body, using their feet and feints to put pressure on but staying defensive to make sure all the return fire is wasted energy, and waiting for the times they have their man trapped or even stationary just for 2 seconds, those dudes make them pay and break him down. It’s a constant theme. Khan only changed that pattern cos he was too stupid to sustain that style and got excited if he half landed a combo, but he had the same basic problem. Defended with his feet and nothing else.

Most of them didnt hit hard enough to get the respect of the aggressor aswell. That seems to be a common theme amongst a lot of the guys you're talking about.

a lot of those brits are arm punching slappers--which is something that does seem to come off from the am emphasis on points rather than quality. even among more defensive fighters that style rarely works out against the elite of the game. fury right now is prob the most succesful using it, but even he's shown he can adapt and set his feet and turn it on offfensively at times, not to mention that he has freakish physical attributes

in stark contrast, i think canelo might be the textbook example of how to turn your body properly into a shot to get the most out of it. his form with the hooks and uppercuts is superb

I feel like Canelo is almost the perfect description of a "pro" style aswell versus the amateur style you see a lot in the pros. A lot of Mexicans tend to have more of a pro style than European fighters imo.

He's always been a big puncher. It has carried through the weights remarkably. When his opponents are backed onto the ropes or into a corner, you really see them bracing themselves for the impact of the punch that's coming. His tactics in the second Golovkin fight showed me that his power translated. He took the center of the ring that night and let Golovkin know that he had no issues if Golovkin wanted to meet him there. Golovkin elected to give ground.
