Super Middleweights : James Toney vs. Canelo
Super Middleweights : James Toney vs. Canelo
12 rounds,who wins?
Re: Super Middleweights : James Toney vs. Canelo
Both fast, slick, precise, hard-hitting and well-chinned counterpunches. Canelo is more powerful and aggressive though, he prefers to push the pace mostly, while Toney is a full-loaded counterpuncher, who feels OK with being attacked. Both get outworked often by their opponents, prefer to be economical.
It's tougher to judge, because Canelo is active and haven't completed his career at the SMW. Up to the date it seems that their fight would have been competetive for sure.
Probably it would be a tactical either-way going battle.

Toney by decision and Canelo wouldn't touch him when Toney counters him on the outside.
Re: Super Middleweights : James Toney vs. Canelo
Toney had exceptionally strong cheek bones.

At his best, Toney was just a bit better. Toney points.

Toney would give Canelo a beat down. I think toney by UD maybe 11th round stoppage.

With the great James "Lights Out" Toney at his very best, I don't think Saul "Canelo" Alvarez beats him. Toney was in another level.
Toney by decision or late KO
