Lopez-Kambosos: Crews-Dezurn vs. Cederroos Undisputed Title Fight in Play For Triller Event
The marketing surrounding the next Triller Fight Club Pay-Per-View carries the promise of an undisputed championship.
It will ring true for at least one bout on the card.
Multiple sources have informed Boxing Scene of plans for a four-belt undisputed super middleweight championship in play between WBC/WBO titlist Franchon Crews-Dezurn and Elin Cederroos, who holds the WBA and IBF belts. The bout is intended to serve on the undercard of the June 5 PPV event headlined by lineal lightweight champion and WBA/IBF/WBO titlist Teofimo Lopez Jr. (16-0, 12 KOs) and unbeaten IBF mandatory challenger George Kambosos Jr.
The show is due to air live from a yet-to-be-announced venue in Miami, though—as previously reported by Boxing Scene—event handlers have a hold on loanDepot Park, home to Major League Baseball’s Florida Marlins.
Crews-Dezurn (7-1, 2 KOs; 1 ND) saw her unified WBC/WBO title reign restored last spring following a controversial fight with Mexico’s Alejandra Jimenez. The Jan. 2020 clash in San Antonio initially saw Jimenez claim a disputed split decision win, only for the verdict to be overturned by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) after the unbeaten 33-year-old from Cancun tested positive for the banned substance stanozolol.
The chain of events prompted the WBO to restore Crews-Dezurn’s title reign last March, while the WBC was slower to the draw before finally coming correct last June. Crews-Dezurn has since returned to the ring this past January, scoring an eight-round points win over Ashleigh Curry who badly missed weight for their non-title fight.
The placement of Crews-Dezurn on the show makes sense as she and Kambosos (19-0-1, 10 KOs) are both managed by Peter Kahn, who is also the chief boxing officer for Triller Fight Club. The 33-year-old Baltimore-based champ is promoted by Golden Boy Promotions, whose company founder Oscar De La Hoya will headline Triller’s July 3 PPV event in an exhibition match versus an opponent to be determined.
Cederroos (8-0, 4 KOs) has not fought since unifying the WBA and IBF titles in a thrilling 10-round unanimous decision win over Alicia Napoleon last January in Atlantic City. The fight was scored 95-94 on all three cards, with a 2nd round knockdown providing the margin of victory for Sweden’s Cederroos who made her U.S. debut.
The upcoming showdown with Crews-Dezurn will mark her second straight stateside appearance and third overall title fight for Cederroos, who claimed the IBF belt following a 10-round majority decision win over Femke Hermans in March 2019.
The winner will become the fourth true undisputed champion in the sport, joining Katie Taylor (lightweight), Jessica McCaskill (welterweight) and Claressa Shields (junior middleweight) on such a lofty stage. Shields also previously served as undisputed middleweight champion and remains the division’s lineal champ.

George is going to expose Teo so badly.
All Teo is really is a dude tnat beat and overblown ancient former featherweight champion at Lightweight and didn't even look that good doing it. When this fellow had to deal with the large B- quality asian Lightweight however he looked like absolutely nothing special.
George is going to dominate this fraud, hope Arum will be in a forgiving mood after this one.

Re: Teofimo Lopez vs. George Kambosos Jr. - June 5, 2021
Your probably right Oogs, I'm a furious George fan and I accept Lopez has the pop to top the division.
Thing is, George has a bit of good old Aussie grit, and since he signed up big time, he has had the right people and is improving every time out. If he can weather the first couple of rounds...
My pick is 60/40 Lopez.

Hope it's a good scrap. Kambo is tough, but Lopez is a bit better. (a lot)KiwiRider wrote: ↑24 Apr 2021, 18:10Your probably right Oogs, I'm a furious George fan and I accept Lopez has the pop to top the division.

i think kambo is quite solid actually, a good all-rounder who has already proven himself on the road, but teo is a p4p elite type of fighter and will comfortably have too much

Re: Teofimo Lopez vs. George Kambosos Jr. - June 5, 2021
The only way that Teofimo is something extremely special is if his best opponent Vasili Lomachenko was, the other wins that Teofimo has on his record do not suggest that he's anything special.
I'm going to argue that Vasili never belonged at 135 pounds, if that arguement can be accepted as true then a natural 135 guy barely beat a 130 guy, that's not so impressive.
Teo does some nonsense in the ring, not saying that he's garbage but RJJr or FMJr not even close.
The leaping left hook wont get George and neither will the straight right so there are no shortcuts for Teo to win this fight.
George somehow methodically latches onto his opponents and possesses a much more mature style than Teo. George isnt RJjr either but styles are what make fights. When we add to that Teo's unstable character and the fact that he is very young, under alot of pressure and intimidated by his opponent..... this sure does look like an inevitable George win.
Most here were picking Vasili to beat Teo. I myself was rather leaning towards a Teo victory even though I wasn't ready to give a firm prediction. This time however I am. It kinda looks to me like the people that bought the Vasili Lomachenko unproven Matrix hype are drinking the Teofimo Lopez koolaid since he beat the big hero. I think that the saying you don't become Ray Robinson by beating Ray Robinson applies here.

i was balls deep on teo beating loma, he'll beat kambo too
teo also splattered commey in 2, who is a pretty good fighter as well. its not like he's just beaten loma and then has only faced scrubs
commey-kambo would be a 50-50ish type fight itself

Lomachenko previously campaigned at 132lbs during his time as an amateur in 2010.H8Usernames wrote: ↑25 Apr 2021, 21:52I'm going to argue that Vasili never belonged at 135 pounds, if that arguement can be accepted as true then a natural 135 guy barely beat a 130 guy, that's not so impressive.
Vasyl's ring weight against Salido was 136lbs. He weighed 138lbs against Russell Jr. These fights happened in 2014, roughly seven years ago.
Rigondeaux was so concerned about the size discrepancy between Loma and himself that he imposed a 138lbs rehydration clause.
So we know for certain that Lomachenko has consistently entered the ring weighing in excess of 135lbs for well over a decade.
He'll almost certainly be competing nowadays around the 145lbs mark come fight night. And has been competing at lightweight for 3½ years.
You might disagree with me, but it seems rather silly to claim a fighter that campaigned as a 132lb-er more than a decade ago, during his amateur days, shouldn't be considered a natural 135lb-er in the pro ranks.

Loma is obviosly over 135 lbs, dosent make him a true 135er. many 135lbers are mid 140s... Loma is the size of a typicle 130lber rather than a 135lber. I wouldent even say he is a big 130 lber, just a middle sized one.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑27 Apr 2021, 05:21Lomachenko previously campaigned at 132lbs during his time as an amateur in 2010.H8Usernames wrote: ↑25 Apr 2021, 21:52I'm going to argue that Vasili never belonged at 135 pounds, if that arguement can be accepted as true then a natural 135 guy barely beat a 130 guy, that's not so impressive.

Re: Teofimo Lopez vs. George Kambosos Jr. - June 5, 2021
pro and ams are totally diff weigh ins.
lopez would have been much heavier in the ring.
lopez is wildly overrated, simply because he beat loma . a very small ,now injury prone great who is coming to the end of his career.
At no point in their fight did lopez look like knocking loma out.
if kambosis doesnt get involved in a slug fest, he,s probly going the distance.

Are you claiming that Loma wouldn't easily make 130 and be more effective at that weight than at 135?Enlightened-One wrote: ↑27 Apr 2021, 05:21Lomachenko previously campaigned at 132lbs during his time as an amateur in 2010.H8Usernames wrote: ↑25 Apr 2021, 21:52I'm going to argue that Vasili never belonged at 135 pounds, if that arguement can be accepted as true then a natural 135 guy barely beat a 130 guy, that's not so impressive.

lomas best weight is 130, i think the am divisions used to go 125 and then 132, so anyone weighing 125.1 would fight at 132.....basically that one am division spans 3 pro divisions
teo's just plain better than him though, whatever the size

I kinda disagree. I think that P4P Loma is and was the better fighter but that he lost due to Teo's size advantage and his own dumb tactics.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑27 Apr 2021, 11:41 lomas best weight is 130, i think the am divisions used to go 125 and then 132, so anyone weighing 125.1 would fight at 132.....basically that one am division spans 3 pro divisions

Teofimo Lopez-George Kambosos Card Moved To June 19 At loanDepot Park In Miami
George Kambosos Jr. has confirmed that his lightweight title fight against Teofimo Lopez has a new date.
Kambosos told Yahoo! Sports’ Kevin Iole on Tuesday that he’ll challenge Lopez on June 19 at loanDepot Park in Miami, the home stadium of Major League Baseball’s Miami Marlins. The Lopez-Kambosos bout initially was supposed to headline a Triller Fight Club pay-per-view show June 5 at loanDepot Park.
Boxing Scene first reported last week that Triller Fight Club was seriously considering moving the Lopez-Kambosos card to June 19. Triller Fight Club won an IBF purse bid February 25 to earn the right to promote the bout between Brooklyn’s Lopez (16-0, 12 KOs) and Australia’s Kambosos (19-0, 10 KOs), the mandatory challenger for Lopez’s IBF 135-pound championship.
Yahoo! Sports also reported two Lopez-Kambosos undercard bouts Tuesday.
Michael Hunter (19-1-1, 13 KOs), a heavyweight contender from Las Vegas, will meet Mike Wilson (21-1, 10 KOs), of Medford, Oregon, in a 10-rounder. Andy Vences (23-2-1, 12 KOs), of San Jose, California, and Ireland’s Jono Carroll (19-2-1, 5 KOs) also are set to meet in a 10-round junior lightweight bout.
The Lopez-Kambosos pay-per-view event will now air on the same night as three other boxing shows in the United States and another pay-per-view card in Mexico.
ESPN is scheduled to televise a card headlined by Japanese star Naoya Inoue that night from Las Vegas. Inoue (20-0, 17 KOs) is set to make a mandatory defense of his IBF bantamweight title against the Philippines’ Michael Dasmarinas (30-2-1, 20 KOs) in ESPN’s main event June 19 at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas.
Showtime also is set to air a tripleheader June 19 that’ll feature WBC middleweight champ Jermall Charlo (31-0, 22 KOs) from an undetermined venue in Houston, Charlo’s hometown. Charlo will make an optional defense of his 160-pound championship against Mexico’s Juan Macias Montiel (22-4-2, 22 KOs) in Showtime’s main event that night.
Also June 19, Mexican middleweight contender Jaime Munguia (36-0, 29 KOs) and Poland’s Maciej Sulecki (29-2, 11 KOs) will square off in the main event of a DAZN stream from the University of Texas at El Paso’s Don Haskins Center in El Paso, Texas.
The pay-per-view show that’ll compete with Lopez-Kambosos will feature Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in a 10-round boxing match against former UFC star Anderson Silva. Chavez’s legendary father also is scheduled to box Hector Camacho Jr. in an exhibition on the Chavez Jr.-Silva card June 19 at Jalisco Stadium in Guadalajara, Mexico.

So now instead of being a day before FMJ-Paul, they’re now going H2H with DAZN and a PPV in Mexico.

Michael Hunter is fighting Mike Wilson.
Probably getting paid more than the $300k he was gonna get for Hrgovic.
Jono Carroll also on the card

how much is hunter being paid?
was gonna make like 370k + mandatory if he beat hrg, wilson is a much easier fight though so if he can get anything like 300k it's a good deal
