Jermall Charlo vs. Juan Macias Montiel - June 19, 2021
Re: Jermall Charlo vs. Juan Macias Montiel - June 19, 2021
Charlo needs to stop ducking Andrade. Hearn told them (PBC) Andrade will take the same money Dereyvanchenko got for fighting him with the fight being on a PBC card. You can bet your life showtime would rather have Charlo vs Andrade then Charlo vs this no mark so it must be Charlo rejecting the fight because he doesn't think he'll win.

Eddie Hearn can’t even manage to orchestrate bouts for Andrade with the men from his own stable.digzee wrote: ↑17 Apr 2021, 08:12 Charlo needs to stop ducking Andrade. but you never even considered that, did you? FFS!
How can you fail to recognise something so glaringly obvious?
The Matchroom boss is using Charlo as a convenient excuse for his own failure to orchestrate decent opponents for Andrade, because he knows that Al Haymon will never talk to the media and refute his claims.

Charlo was ‘advised’ to decline..
Instead he’s defending his title against the likes of Montiel.. instead of potentially unifying.
Do you like the the type of opponents Jermall has fought since going up to 160?

Charlo could be targeting andrade or GGG. He isnt.
Flip side andrade sucks and ggg is comfortable fighting garbage
Its why boxing has lost almost all its fans.

Assuming everything you said is true, which it may or may not be, since we’ll never hear Al Haymon’s side of the story, it doesn’t detract from the fact that Eddie Hearn cannot orchestrate decent fights for his own fighter (Demetrius Andrade) and the men aligned within his own stable (DAZN guys).Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑11 May 2021, 20:39Can’t knock Eddie Hearn for trying. Every time anyone complains about the poor calibre of Demetrius Andrade’s resume, fans of Boo Boo ALWAYS cite, without fail, Jermall Charlo as their ONLY counter-argument!
They fail to realise that the PBC is not responsible for advancing Andrade’s career. They’re under no obligation to work with Matchroom. That responsibility solely lies with Eddie Hearn.
And the Matchroom boss should be orchestrating marquee bouts for Andrade with the men within his own stable.
Fans of Demetrius NEVER stop for one second to think about the reason why Eddie Hearn isn’t looking elsewhere. They just wrongly assume that Charlo is his only career option!
But Eddie can’t do it. All he does is keep saying that Charlo won’t accept our offer!
It’s a smokescreen excuse to conceal a much bigger and laughably obvious truth!
Boo Boo has been competing as a pro since 2008, and his resume is diabolical, so don’t pretend that Jermall Charlo or the PBC is solely responsible for that!
Re: Jermall Charlo vs. Juan Macias Montiel - June 19, 2021
At least Charlo has wins over Derevyanchenko and Williams. Win over Adams seems somewhat decent too. But this fight is just joke

Re: Jermall Charlo vs. Juan Macias Montiel - June 19, 2021
The Charlo-Montiel fight is horrible.
However, Charlo's resume is still more impressive than most of his 160lb rivals:
• Two-weight world champion
• Seven world title fights (nine if we include the interim titles, since neither GGG or Canelo wanted to perform a mandatory defence against him)
• Victories over three former or current world champions (Cornelius Bundrage, Austin Trout & Julian Williams)
• Notable names faced: Austin Trout, Sergiy Derevyanchenko, Julian Williams, Brandon Adams, Cornelius Bundrage and Matt Korobov
• Undefeated
• Considered a top-ten world-rated fighter since 2014
Jermall Charlo is the best fighter currently competing at 160lbs (Canelo's only engaged in one bout at 160lbs within the last 32 months), though admittedly, the division isn't as strong as it once was.
And it’s not as if Andrade or GGG are doing their upmost to face any of the top-five rated middleweights either.
They’re both engaging in stay-busy bouts against badly over-matched opposition, whilst waiting for the Canelo payday.
Let's compare Charlo, Andrade and Golovkin's opponents over the last 2½ years:
Golovkin:
• Kamil Szeremeta
• Sergiy Derevyanchenko (loss)
• Steve Rolls
Andrade:
• Liam Williams
• Luke Keeler
• Maciej Sulecki
• Artur Akavov
• Walter Kautondokwa
Charlo:
• Juan Macias Montiel (not fought yet)
• Sergiy Derevyanchenko
• Dennis Hogan
• Brandon Adams
• Matt Korobov
The fighter that's recently faced the best opponents seems fairly obvious to me.

derev should fight sulecki/williams
would be interesting to see those guys matched with each other rather than being losers to the stars
montiel couldnt even beat hugo centeno or last 2 full rounds vs munguia, should get pounded by mall in a terrible mismatch

GGG is 40 y/o and probably he's gonna fight the wba mw champion Murata in Japan in a big event! Meanwhile Charlo is cruising through some stiffs hoping he'd land a fight vs Canelo in the future.
Hearn made Charlo a good offer to fight Andrade on Fox but Charlo was like :
David Lemieux - 2015 No. 4 by Ring Magazine
Daniel Jacobs - 2017 No. 2 by Ring Magazine
Saul Alvarez - 2017 Champion by Ring Magazine
Saul Alvarez - 2018 Champion by Ring Magazine
Sergiy Derevyanchenko - 2019 No. 4 by Ring Magazine

Re: Jermall Charlo vs. Juan Macias Montiel - June 19, 2021
This is what Charlo has said:
“I’m hungry to consider myself one of the best in the world. I’m out to fight the best out there. That’s been the hardest achievement right now,” Charlo told the PBC Podcast. “My team has reached out to guys like Golovkin, Canelo [Alvarez], and [Demetrius] Andrade. Whoever has a belt at 160. I’m obviously one of the top-tiers in the division, so it’s not as if they can avoid me. But, of course, I’m one of the most avoided, but all I’ve got to do is keep fighting and keep winning.
“Yeah, [Golovkin is] a fight that I really want, yeah it’s a fight that can be made. It’s just a matter of time. It’s a matter of how we can get Golovkin in the ring with Jermall Charlo. We both want things our way, A-side, B-side. I’ll take the B-side. I’ll fight in a big ring if they want to fight in a big ring. I’ll fight in their city if they want to fight in their city. I don’t pick the fights, I’m not into the management group.”
“F--- the money, f--- the fame, f--- the networks,” Charlo said in an Instagram post following Alvarez eighth-round stoppage win over Billy Joe Sauders. “I’ll lose my title and go to 168, make the fight happen now.”
“I fight whoever they put in front of me, so regardless I train hard for every fight. Every time I get up in the morning and I look at those world titles on the ceiling, there’s more out there, there’s more to come … I’m going to showcase my talent on June 19th on Showtime so you guys get a chance to see me again. [Montiel] deserves a shot.”

This is a disappointment.
Get Charlo in with Andrade.
Get him in with Canelo.
Get him in with GGG.
Or I don’t care tbh.

I like the fact Montiel made the most of a big opportunity vs Kirkland, and is getting rewarded for that win. Sure this is probably him out of his league but this is preferable to what happened to Mike Plania after beating Greer.
Yes there's better options out there for Charlo, but Andrade can hardly complain given his recent run included Luke Keeler - _-

Andrade’s matchups are lame too. Neither of them is worth as much money as they think they are.Boxing Prospect wrote: ↑16 May 2021, 15:35 I like the fact Montiel made the most of a big opportunity vs Kirkland, and is getting rewarded for that win. Edit: Only to add that Canelo probably smokes them both.
Did you see the Montiel-Kirkland fight. That was saddest thing I’ve ever seen.

I did, and yeah Kirkland was shot to shit, still credit to Montiel for not carrying him, but going in making an impression and getting some attention. He deserved SOMETHING on the back of that to see how good he actually is... But yeah not a shot at this level.bobcatbox wrote: ↑16 May 2021, 15:42Andrade’s matchups are lame too. Andrade, Charlo, Saunders, Smith (Callum), Plant all just wanting to land the Canelo pay day, and expect fans to care. It's been going on far far far too long

Montiel Confident His Power Will Be 'Great Equalizer' Against Jermall Charlo
“We are focused on preparing as well as possible. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and we are taking it as such with a lot of dedication and discipline. We are ready to put on a great show on June 19," Montiel said.
“This is the fight I always dreamed of. I am all about challenging myself and fighting against the best of the best. I have been training hard and I believe in myself. I will be ready to come out and win."
“We’re fighting in Houston because I don’t think that I’m in a position to choose or dictate anything right now. I will fight anywhere in order to make my dream of becoming a champion come true. If we have to fight on the moon, then let’s fight on the moon," Montiel said.
“I believe that power is the great equalizer, a legit advantage in boxing, since it can change the fortunes of any fighter inside the ring. I consider my power an advantage in my favor.
“I’m happy that there will be fans in the stands. I don’t feel any pressure, because it’s all about Latin pride and support and that motivates me."
“I have fought and prepared so hard for the opportunity to go and get this championship belt. I have done things the right way, there is no reason for things to go wrong. As I said previously, I am not in a position to choose where to fight. I just have to keep training hard like I have since I was four years old," Montiel said.
“I think Charlo is a great fighter, super talented and the world champion for a reason. I have been preparing my whole life for this. I don’t think that all Mexicans just go on attack mode by default, you also have to be smart and think things through depending on how the fight goes.”
