Not sure really if he is being treated more harshly than Dubois ..oogiebe wrote: ↑13 May 2021, 12:28Exactly right and why BJS is getting all the harsh treatment.
But he seems to be universally despised .

Yeah similar with the football injuries- I’d be never heard of metatarsal before Wayne Rooney had that injury.coghaugen11 wrote: ↑13 May 2021, 14:00 This mysterious orbital bone injury didn’t seem to exist until a few years ago
Orlando Salido had his orbital bone broke in the first round against Mikey Garcia .. he took a shellacking, and kept getting up until the accidental headbut in the 8th.Terminator666 wrote: ↑13 May 2021, 13:42 Regardless if he quit, I don’t know of any other boxer fighting on too long with that kind of injury ( could be wrong) so if that’s the case then even if he quit he’s no different to anyone else with that injury
Yeah good points-perhaps he realises he’s not as tough as he thought he wastonyevs wrote: ↑13 May 2021, 15:58Orlando Salido had his orbital bone broke in the first round against Mikey Garcia .. he took a shellacking, and kept getting up until the accidental headbut in the 8th.Terminator666 wrote: ↑13 May 2021, 13:42 Regardless if he quit, I don’t know of any other boxer fighting on too long with that kind of injury ( could be wrong) so if that’s the case then even if he quit he’s no different to anyone else with that injury
As already pointed out .. too many times already; its not that he quit ... but that he boasted previously that he would never quit, even if both eye sockets were broken etc.
But then soon as it gets broke - he absolutely panicked and quit.
For some people an incident may arise when their courage gets tested; when they have a basic core realisation of who they really are ... in a split second its fight or flight moment; people react to incidents without thought but instinct.
BJS found out he wasn`t what he hoped he was in that 8th round when that crunching uppercut landed; he was terrified and quit. That is a difficult realisation for anybody to discover .. especially with millions seeing it happen.
Well he found out he wasn't as tough as he thought he was, so what? He's still tougher than the posters on here who are slagging him for pulling out of a fight with a serious injury.
Can't you?dr_devious wrote: ↑13 May 2021, 17:10
Can't see the difference between BJS pulling DDD down and the posters on here for pulling BJS down .
If you do something shit, you can't complain when it gets done back to you.
Didn't Beckham famously break his metatarsal before a world cup?Terminator666 wrote: ↑13 May 2021, 14:12Yeah similar with the football injuries- I’d be never heard of metatarsal before Wayne Rooney had that injury.coghaugen11 wrote: ↑13 May 2021, 14:00 This mysterious orbital bone injury didn’t seem to exist until a few years ago
He did. I mean loads of people did before that, but we just used to call it "a broken foot".Ricky wrote: ↑13 May 2021, 18:26Didn't Beckham famously break his metatarsal before a world cup?Terminator666 wrote: ↑13 May 2021, 14:12Yeah similar with the football injuries- I’d be never heard of metatarsal before Wayne Rooney had that injury.coghaugen11 wrote: ↑13 May 2021, 14:00 This mysterious orbital bone injury didn’t seem to exist until a few years ago
It shouldn't even be a discussion because if a fighter does somehow fight in with such an injury that would be a total failure by the ringside doctor. An injury like that is life changing, BJS & Dubois were both in the territory of permanent sight loss: the idea of them even being allowed to carry on is, imo, disgraceful to a sport in which we seem to forget the health of the boxers is the most important aspect.Terminator666 wrote: ↑13 May 2021, 13:42 Regardless if he quit, I don’t know of any other boxer fighting on too long with that kind of injury ( could be wrong) so if that’s the case then even if he quit he’s no different to anyone else with that injury
I remember guys getting a "broken cheekbone" years ago. Maybe sort of the same thing?gp. wrote: ↑13 May 2021, 18:27He did. Fray Bentos wrote: ↑13 May 2021, 20:01 Saunders is being judged by his own words - simple as that really. When Dubois quit, I was very sympathetic and supportive and truly believe he did the right thing, I do believe that Saunders did the right thing also but I have no sympathy for him because he has been an utter arse all these years and got away with it the vast majority of the time.
If he came out and said 'I said previously that I would die in the ring than quit but now I realise that my health and my family and my future comes first and that I now realise that my previous statements about other fighters and myself were lacking in the insight I have now and I retract these words totally' then that would go a long way to redeeming himself.
But it doesn't seem he is going to do that - he is going to try and ride it out and lie through his teeth (or get his team to do it on his behalf...) if his team or Saunders are reading this, that would be a really bad idea and he might as well say goodbye to his boxing career in the UK. I think we are all sick to the back teeth of Billy Joe Saunders and his illusions and listening to them.
And what has been said on here is nothing to what Fernando Vargas has said - which I thought was a bit over the top but he has been there and has proved he has the heart of a lion so maybe he has more right to his very scathing views.
