you would have to assume that all the interested parties would have anticipated this and already have a plan B or some strategy for dealing with it .

more than likely wilder gets a few million quid for stepping aside , which wouldnt be bad ?

he could spend it on boxing lessons or some leg supports !

This.
Nevertheless there isn't elite quality at the weight and if Taylor is going to achieve true greatness he will need better dancing partners, like the Crawfords of this world.
Whoever wins will obviously move up, but that does not discount the value of this fight, no matter how you discount the quality of the division and in so doing discount the quality of Ramirez.

Hopefully, for Taylor’s sake, he is more pragmatic about the chore at hand. Ramirez is coming for him. :OhYes:

I'd say that goes for Crawford too. His resume at 147 is crap.
Vergil Ortiz Jr. would be more than happy to dance with the victor of Saturday’s historic clash.

The likes of SLR, Duran etc would never have been thought as as ATG's without each other.

Even Tyson who completely cleaned out the division suffered without having a prime Holmes, Frazier, Foreman, Ali etc.

It's not a criticism of the fighter.

The team Wilder is likely to b!tch for a bigger step-aside check. Anyway, Wilder is a moron, hopefully he just dies right now.

Wilder doesn’t earn anything like $20 million from the 3rd Fury fight. He’s the challenger now for god sake. I’d be surprised if he’d make more than $5 million from the trilogybfight.

I think when they agreed the 2nd fight, they also agreed the 3rd, with a 60/40 split to the winner. I would imagine Wilder will want his 40% still. As you say, he is the challenger now and as the 2nd fight apparently lost money, not sure how big the kitty will be for #3. It might be more for Wilder than he could earn elsewhere, but we know that is definitely not the case for Fury, who'll go into that rubber match with a lot of financial pressure - a loss could cost him over a hundred million. That is serious pressure at the back of your mind.

I guess there are all sorts of behind the scenes rows kicking off at the moment. Arum said arbitration was not a problem, somebody must have told him that. Arum was handling Fury when the 2nd and 3rd Wilder fights were negotiated and agreed, then covid hit, but somebody has definitely dropped a bollock somewhere along the line.

Tyson is under serious financial pressure? Yes, he might have to get by with 50m career earnings instead of 200m. I hope hes ok.

He has had 15 months to have the rematch ..

was it for a specific guaranteed purse which couldn’t be delivered during a lockdown ?

Seems like a bad contract .. Wilder basically went AWOL for a year and now suddenly is back and wants to fight ..

All seems very amateurish and it will really grate it the d1ck Wilder gets huge step aside money when he is no longer relevant and doesn’t deserve.
Not true. There are online stories from October / November last year where wilder started arbitration to force a third fight with fury and this prevented fury from fighting in the uk in December. Team wilder have been operating in the legal channels and not publicly for sometime. They’ve kept their counsel that’s all.

Fury is the shithouse here.

Wilder gave fury two opportunities and fury despite contractually agreeing to a third fight tried to walk away. Fair is fair. Wilder gave fury his two chances. Fury should be giving wilder his chance. After all, fury agreed to those terms.

i wonder if a 3rd fight would have a rematch clause?

Not awol. Team fury refused the 3rd fight. Arbitration commenced from team wilder last year. This isn’t a recent thing despite the perceived narrative...

There has been ongoing dialogue about a 3rd fight between both camps since last year.

Arum’s to blame for it. He’s an experienced lawyer, did his law degree at Harvard and practiced at a very high level before moving into boxing. If there was any doubt about the outcome it should have been sorted months ago to keep Tyson active and get it out of the way.

This has just all be horrible from the offset.

How many months (I think it is now in the "years" category) has it been "agreed" - it was certainly in the line of "you beat Pulev, and I'll be Wilder and we will fight" - so way before any date for the "third" Wilder fight was finalised.

And since Pulev it has been pretty much "announcement next week" from Hearn.

This is WAY more frustrating the Pac vs Mayweather cos being honest it never seemed like it was on Mayweather's (especially) radar - criticise FM for that if you want, but Fury and Joshua have been really demanding the fight. It seemed like the first time BOTH Mayweather and Pacquiao said - okay lets do this - it was secured pretty quickly.

It grates that we have 2 brits fighting for the biggest prize on earth and its not in either the UK or the states - and forget Covid, Saudi was always going to beat Wembley for it.

And yes - it feels like had they'd stop trading insults (both the promoters and the fighters) and focused on getting it over the line - they could have fought before the arbitration case had been finalised.

Joshua vs Wilder was bad enough, this is even worse.

I'm quite looking forward to Wilder-Fury 3. I wanted it to happen before. Wilder, with his stupid excuses and his horrible deluded racist fanbase, are perfect heels. I stopped being a miserable 'hardcore' a long time ago, and just enjoy boxing as entertainment where they genuinely f*ck each other up. Wilder has done his job being incredibly irritating since the last fight, so seeing him being beaten up again would be immensely satisfying: and if he wins... Well that's boxing. Maybe he can improve? Even if he loses but looks better in this one, then him vs AJ would be fun down the line. I also like AJ vs Usyk, and would be interested to see where Joyce (my personal favourite heavy) goes in the meantime.

AJ vs Fury was stalling the whole division to be honest. All they both have to do is win and then we get the big fight later in the year. At least the division can start making fights again.

Fury last year said , i'm sick of being messed about i'm walking , not interested in Wilder anymore ,, well with the money his lawyers get , they need to give him a refund for not telling him you can't do it ,,,, Then only weeks ago he was sick of the delays with AJ and saying he's gonna move on ,, while all the time he's in abrtation for the Wilder rematch ,,, The guy is really coming across has a big thick peanut ,, , I think they the boxing world should just forget about him and Wilder , start making the fights withh the guys who do want to fight , Joyce ,, Usyk , Ruiz ,,ect ect and just tell the other two Wilder and Fury ,, don't worry about it we don't need you theres others who will sell , but by the way when you do decided you want to fight ,,, your NOT GETTING 20 million or so

I think people are over thinking it. Fury wanted the 3rd Wilder fight. Wilder messed about and spewed conspiracy theories, missed the cut off date so Fury moved on. He was told he was getting a certain amount for an AJ fight so he held out until he had the finances were properly in place for what he was offered. Meanwhile, Wilder wins his case in court so he gets his 3rd fight with Fury, despite appearing mentally not up for it.

Fury wanted Wilder 3, but got fed up being messed around. Both AJ and Fury wanted their mega-fight, but the promoters pissed about with it, went on social media multiple times saying it was done when it wasn't, and now have come unstuck.

I don't think Wilder will get paid off: I think Fury will fight him and really want to hurt him this time. He won't pay him off. Wilder will be desperate for revenge.

Meanwhile, AJ will have to fight Usyk, another dangerous fight. The guy is too small, in my opinion, but he's got the moves.

Both could be upset. Both are hard, decent fights.

I don't think anybody has ducked anything. I don't see the massive issue. Fury had a contracted rematch, AJ had a mandatory. They've tried to dance around both legally and couldn't do it. So they fight who they have to fight.

All this "oh he's a pussy, it was never happening, blatant duck" stuff is bollocks. We've had a global pandemic, and there are two fighters with legally legitimate reasons to be fought first. Everybody is Mystic Meg now, saying they knew it wouldn't happen anyway. But there were lots of reasons why it couldn't happen. I really think they tried.

I personally am quite happy with the situation, don't really care (it's only a sport) and will watch all the subsequent fights with interest.

I don't think anybody sh*t the bed or ducked anybody. People need to chill out.

On This i tend to agree with you , I do want to see AJ --Fury two diferent styles , but got a feeling it will be a Fizzler ,, just don't think it will pan out to be a great fight ,,, What i see here is , it depending on Fury , i Think if he comes at A-J like he did Wilder second time ,, he will get a shock at the size, speed and strenght of AJ ,,, Like wise if AJ trys to box and move like he did Ruiz 2 , he will not cope with Tysons movement ,, so i see it has the potential to be quite a boring fight , could be wrong , but Tyson playing safety , will make it boring ,

Regards Wilder - Fury i see excitment there , Tyson either trys to manhandle him or box him ,, boxing him well the longer it goes the more chance of getting caught ,, Tyson goes to manhandle him again ,, betyour life Wilder follows the big right hand with a left hook , that fight really is one punch away from disater for both ,

AJ-- Usyk ,,, good big en against a good little en , on paper A-J way to big and too strong ,, but he traditionaly tires , he will not fight like Chisora , he'll try to box not overwhelm ,, and that could work in Usyk's favor , especielly in the last half when AJ will get tired ,, If it went that long ,,

So based on that i agree , its a sport and i want to see the most enthralling matchups,,, and for me these two are more enthralling once you take the British out of it .

See? We can agree on stuff! :TU: The sport has to go on. these are all solid fights. I don't care about them earning hundreds of millions and fighting in Saudi. At least they're going to get it on with somebody decent. Like you said, I can see AJ-Fury, as much as I want it- being a snoozer. So I'm not unhappy if we get these other matchups first.
