Round-by-Round: Jose Ramirez vs. Josh Taylor - May 22, 2021
Re: Round-by-Round: Jose Ramirez vs. Josh Taylor - May 22, 2021
Awesome tightly contested fight, real undisputed level. Taylor can be considered the best scot ever right now, if not one of the best brits. KDs or not, he was on point! Ramirez is awesome, still.

Ruthless for POTUS!
Re: Round-by-Round: Jose Ramirez vs. Josh Taylor - May 22, 2021
Yeah, I think that I had it the same, but I kept getting kicked out from waffling WiFi.
Re: Round-by-Round: Jose Ramirez vs. Josh Taylor - May 22, 2021
I didn't rate some of Ramirez offense. Thought he was landing on Taylor's guard, in other words it was ineffective.

7-4-1, 116-111 Taylor. His power and timing were superb, as was his chin, but he showed some fatigue in the end. Ramirez recovered impressively after being on the brink of being stopped, but it was too little too late.

Note to self..,
Bet on fight going the distance when Bayless is the ref !
He saved Ram there like he saved Fury before.
Glad he did (twice), but he shouldn't![[icon_shame.gif] :shame:](./images/smilies/icon_shame.gif)

agree. in one of his ambushes that was replayed, as one of his strong points in the round, he landed about 1 of 10 punches
granted he did have some really nice moments, esp in round 3, and he rebounded a bit late, but taylor was comfortably ahead for me and was able to coast at the end
Re: Round-by-Round: Jose Ramirez vs. Josh Taylor - May 22, 2021
Um no, I mean R5L were talking bollix - they were saying that. He wasn't ref for the first fight was he
Whatever - he "gave Ramirez every chance" as some crap home-cooking refs in Britain might say.

he gave rammy some extra time, but on the other hand he arguably contributed toward the second kd
Re: Round-by-Round: Jose Ramirez vs. Josh Taylor - May 22, 2021
Taylor coasted way too much, and nearly gave it away. I tend to think that he gassed, given he wanted a KO.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑22 May 2021, 23:03agree. in one of his ambushes that was replayed, as one of his strong points in the round, he landed about 1 of 10 punches

Great win, but he cut it way too close.

Re: Round-by-Round: Jose Ramirez vs. Josh Taylor - May 22, 2021
I only gave Ramirez one very clear round. Then he had some great bursts that got him 2 more. There were a couple of other rounds where he had a good 20 second burst, but i just had taylor with the much much cleaner work and more hurtful shots. but over all great fight, what a surprise when 1 vs 2 you get a good fight...
Ref was shit. early breaks first half of the fight then later he was so often he was half in or half out or slapping/grabbing an arm. either yell break and get in there, or let em go. That half in half out may have been the cause of the 2nd knock down.
Weird that non of the commentators are saying the cards are too close, yet are saying taylor is on another level when the judges all had it 6-6...

Check out Weisfeld's card, lol.
He gave Taylor the 12th.
Think he knew that there would have been too many questions had he given Ramirez 7 rounds, making it a 113-113 draw.

ya similar to how i saw it. thought josh won by 6 or 7. jose had a big 3rd and then i gave him some of the later rounds when jt coasted a bitgregregegg wrote: ↑22 May 2021, 23:11 I only gave Ramirez one very clear round. josh was just picking the better shots for me, and in most rounds had rammy's ambushes under control.

Taylor gave away too many late rounds. Or, he was seriously gassed.gregregegg wrote: ↑22 May 2021, 23:11 I only gave Ramirez one very clear round. Then he had some great bursts that got him 2 more. i think he coasted rather than gassed. the sharpness and speed in his work was still pretty good and he never looked too worried to me.

The difference was the two KDs. That is leaving it entirely too close.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑22 May 2021, 23:17 i think he coasted rather than gassed. the sharpness and speed in his work was still pretty good and he never looked too worried to me.

To be fair its an interview 140lb boxing with a Scotsman winning vs NBA playoffs... It cant be a surprise to you that ESPN made that choice.
