It’s easy to train naturally talented fighters who have already established themselves as top fighters. Has he made any of the top fighters he had better? I don’t think so personally.

He’s had the lineal heavyweight champion. I’ll ignore his first 3 fights with Tyson as Tyson was getting back to fitness but he looked average against Wallin who he would have toyed with if it had been the Tyson pre Klitschko. He’s only had one fight with Sugar Hill and looked, by a long way, the best he had since coming back post Klitschko.

Billy Joe had his worst performance with Ben in the corner against Akavov.

Josh fought well last night but he’s been brought on by Shane and he didn’t look a better fighter than the one who fought Prograis. I personally think Prograis is better than Ramirez and I think if Taylor had been trained by McGuigan he may have stopped Ramirez. Also thought it was stupid to turn off for the last 2 rounds.

Lee McGregor looked really good last time out so I’d give Ben credit for that but it’s not like he’s taken on guys from turning over and made them great or taken guys from British level to world titles.

Adam Booth training Andy Lee to winning the world title and Curtis Woodhouse to the British title are better achievements in my books. As is how Shane has taken Okolie from a gangly spoiler to a good world champion.

I listened to a Peter Fury interview yesterday and they asked him about the Billy Joe corner stuff. He said he wouldn’t allow anyone else in the corner talk to the fighter between rounds and if they tried then he’d be raging. I agree with him to be honest. I couldn’t imagine anyone other than Billy Graham talking in the corner in the days with Ricky Hatton.

According to Tibbs he wasn’t talking but “blowing down his earole” whilst in the corner. Strange state of affairs.

He did an interview with James English on YouTube saying how he has to ‘pull up’ all other trainers on so much. He even said he has a young pad guy who’s never boxed who is night and day better than most trainers out there!

People like to criticise Davison, and I didn't like the way he went about things with Mark Tibbs, however his credentials are beginning to stack up, like it or not.

He has a fantastic fighter in Taylor, who was trained for the majority of his career by someone else.

Are we honestly saying Taylor would have looked worse with any of the other of the top 10 trainers in this country, because I don't think that is the case at all.

Taylor has never put in a wide 12 round decision yet, always switches off, his biggest flaw

are there 10 or more other trainers in the country who could've won that fight if they'd been in the corner instead of ben?

or do we think ben is a bit 'special' as a trainer

genuinely curious to those who rate him highly

Taylor was a world class amateur. He's been perfecting his craft since childhood. What is
a pro trainer going to teach him now ? Just a question of keeping him fit and interested surely.

to a degree. a pro trainer would prob help the initial transition from am to pro tho surely. IE how to slow the pace, deal with the rough housing, fighting more effectively inside, hit with more authority instead of just fencing etc etc etc.

If thats the case , why against Ram did all 3 judges have him LOSING 3 out of the last 4 ,, one actually having him losing the last 4
