Maybe the best atmosphere ever. I still say saad/Lopez 2 & Pryor/arguello 1 are the two best fights I've seen live in 45 years.ironbeard wrote: ↑22 May 2021, 13:55Zepeda v Baranchyk has a better argument for greatest fight ever.gilgamesh wrote: ↑21 May 2021, 12:09Well I had seen The Legendary Nights episode about the fight, and heard all the hype "Greatest round ever" all that stuff, and for me personally. It's not the Greatest round ever. It is a good fight, but after the 1st round it gets pretty one sided.
It's great don't get me wrong, but when people call it arguably the greatest fight ever. I think they're way overselling it.
Round 1 of Hearns v Hagler is definitely one of the greatest rounds ever due to the anticipation, stage, and actual action. Few MWs in the history of boxing could have walked through what Hagler did in that round.

I will give it to Hagler/Hearns that as far as "Superfights" between 2 of the Biggest stars the sport has to offer you seldom ever see action like that. Especially right from the get go. Usually that kinda action comes from the guys a notch or two below that level. Still damn good fighters, but not the Superstar guys.Onetimeonly wrote: ↑22 May 2021, 14:06Maybe the best atmosphere ever. i always enjoy when i see other ppl agree with me that hagler-hearns is massively overrated, i watched it for the first time after hearing 'greatest fight of all time' about it for years...........it was a big letdown
it was like a minute and a half of great 2 way action, then hearns totally loses his legs and gets his butt whooped for the rest of it. no knockdowns traded, no big comeback, no sustained ultra competitivness ,etc. still very good, but been lots of better fights
tommy i wonder if something happened to him going into that fight. his legs just turned to rubber so fast. obviously hagler contributed to that, but hearns was great fighter himself who shouldve been able to stay in the fight longer before wilting

You think maybe he was wearing a heavy costume or something in the locker room?margaret thatcher wrote: ↑25 May 2021, 02:17

A fight I can’t stand hearing about and I can’t watch ever again is Tyson Douglas. Sick of it.

I think the grudge match factor and how they were both respected prior and went onto bigger things elevates it above others.
