Josh Taylor’s short-term lies at 140lbs.

He shouldn’t be rushed into facing bigger opposition, like Crawford at 147lbs.

If he waits 12 to 18 months, most of the old-guard at 147lbs would have either retired, become vulnerable to defeat (due to age) or moved weight divisions.

That said, in 12 to 18 months, Jaron Boots Ennis is going to pose a massive problem at 147lbs.

Taylor needs to steer clear of that particular American prospect.

He should try to get Crawford bout as soon as possible. If he can get a win over Terence, he has a lotf of possible 5 star opponents in 2 or 3 weigths and can handle as an A side

I would assume (i might be wrong) Crawford and taylor are similar size out of competition. Taylor is huge for 140

I think hed be fine fighting Crawford. I think hed lose but its a legit fight

I'd like to see Taylor vs. Crawford. I'd heavily favor Crawford, but I think Taylor would be a step up from the guys Crawford has been facing.

You think? Taylor is tall but dosent seem big at 140. I’d be shocked if crawford in ring weight wasn’t much higher. Absolute could be wrong, but I intuitively would have craw is a good 15 lb heavier.

Edit on that, just lurked some footage of him after weight cuts and he definatly cuts a decent chunk. Still think craw is heavier but mabey not 15 lb. craw was a decent sized welter when fighting 135 though... the myth that he is small at 147 is far from true.

This is the smart move for him to avoid a loss and damage in the near future, but if he wants the money he ought to make the Crawford fight happen ASAP. Agree with you that he should steer clear of Boots unless he wants a whooping. Personally I’d love to see the two of them get it on.

Version A - JT stays at LWW : Potential high class opponents - Prograis and Ramirez (the rematches), current LW boxers : T.Lopez, Haney and Davis. All these fights might be competitive, but I would predict JT would be the winner (80 %).

Version B - JT moves up at WW : Potential high class opponents - Spence and Crawford, These two fights might be competitive, too, but I would predict JT would lose the both fights (80%, again).

So, Josh Taylor would get more money at WW, but, he would be more successful (as a sportsman) at LWW.

What kind of scenario Josh will choose ? Very difficult to say.................

Josh Taylor has to focus on the division he’s most competitive at.

If he loses, his net worth instantly declines.

So the welterweight payday opportunities will always be there for him if he remains unbeaten at 140lbs.

However, if he makes the jump to 147lbs, he could lose and his commercial worth will decline when he loses. It’s also tough (physically) to move down divisons and the payday opportunities at 140lbs would be smaller, due to him having previously tasted defeat.
