Moseley vs Vargas II card.
Moseley vs Vargas II card.
So what did everyone think of the card... It was a good night of boxing and thanks to sky for showing most of the undercard. Rock Allen looks to be a good prospect in the making, I have been impressed with each showing of his.
To be honest, I haven't seen all the Diaz fight yet - but the bits I've seen he looks good.... I would like to see more variety in his work, but even with his style I think he'll be around for a LONG time to come.
Now Daniel Ponce De Leon is an interesting fighter - as Johnny Nelson said looks so beatable but can absolutely whack. Call me crazy but my immediate thoughts after that fight, even when the opponent was still face first on the canvas was.... Can he do that to Wayne McCullough? I think he will be a champion who might struggle to get the big fights cause he looks so bad but so dangerous. If he can KO Wayne, then he will become a huge box office Super Bantamweight. I'm sure that Wayne will be more confident of his chances vs De Leon than any other champion.
The main event never lived up to the hype - but I was still pleased. Why? Cause I think that was Shane Mosley's best performance since the Forrest fights. He had flashes of his old self, for the first time in a long time his hand speed was looking close to what it was in his prime (he looked SLOW vs Wright and DLH 2). I think he should have gone back to his father sooner.
As for Vargas.... He does look finished, he is still a big name and might be able to attract the big Middleweights.... Maybe he can get Castilejo again. He looked shot though.

don't think Diaz would be that tough i fight for Hatton to be honest, he'd stand right in front of him for a war, but as you say he's smaller and obviously not a huge puncher (he hit that guy with everything last night and didn't put a dent in him) and his great workrate would be more than matched by Ricky. I think Hatton's strength would tell and he'd break him up. Would be fun to watch though
Yes it was bad, thankfully he appears alright. It looked alarming at first and I'm not sure how clear would Nady's consciene have been had it been bad.assassin wrote:Ponce de Leon is a cool cat, gotta love the one punch finishers, ice cold!!!
and yeah, LMAO at Nady counting the poor b*stard out when he was face first out clean ko'd!!
I don't think Vargas should have been allowed to continue. He was well out of it and basically turned his back on the fight when he continued.
Two bad refing judgments I thought
true, Nady will cringe when he sees the replays of that.
Back to the main event; i was impressed with Mosely, did show flashes of his old speed and intensity. The left hook was a peach, scarily similar to the one Oscar dropped him with, he even fell the same way after he got hit!
Vargas didn't look good at all, never been the same since Trinidad gave him that beating. Think he'll probably retire, apparantly he's a smart businessman; clothing line, owns properties etc so it would be nice to see him retire still young without taking any more punishment. strange to say that given he's only 28 but he did have the look of a shot fighter last night
