Tyson Fury vs. Deontay Wilder III - 9 October 2021
Re: Tyson Fury vs. Deontay Wilder III - 24 July 2021
Can’t see any reason to favor Wilder. But, he still possesses the eraser.

This 3rd fight feels like a waste of time. Fury's management are a joke !
The biggest loser in all this is Fury and his legacy, whilst AJ keeps marching forwards and on to his next contender.
I'd pretty much lost all respect for Fury after Klitschko and now it's nose dived even lower
AJ v Usyk on the other other hand is fascinating

That's right. No doubt very good performances against Wilder, but I don't respect Fury popping up when it suits him to fight ![[icon_shame.gif] :shame:](./images/smilies/icon_shame.gif)
He turned into a big mouth who hasn't proved he can handle the pressure of being a champion.
I've far more respect for a champion who consistently fights through his good nights and bad nights.
Don't forget, it's not AJ (or his team) who has scuppered this fight. Fury's just looks a total plonker mouthing off all the time. He just doesn't learn

It was the AJ v Fury fight that was never officially official ! The great mastermind Bob Arum had repeatedly assured Hearn that Wilder's arbitration hearing would NOT present a problem to AJ v Fury.
One thing always seemed odd about all this and that's as soon as Fury's team tried to push ahead with Fury v Kayabel, Wilder's team put a halt to it....why would the ending be any different once December 2020 passed and Fury's management didn't exercise their get-out clause (or whatever it was)

Fury could have fought Kabayel. Wilder had nothing to do with that happening. It wasn’t FW couldn’t promise certain funds for Fury to fight in the UK.THEBUTCH wrote: ↑30 May 2021, 17:32 It was the AJ v Fury fight that was never officially official ! Youre wrong. Wilder’s team started arbitration last year. It’s stopped Fury from fighting anyone.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑30 May 2021, 19:19Fury could have fought Kabayel. There was no mention at the time from those involved that the reason I didn’t happen was because of the Wilder arbitration. Given what’s happened now that may well have stopped the fight from happening but they didn’t get that far because they couldn’t get the money together for Fury to fight in the U.K.liamlion wrote: ↑31 May 2021, 09:07Youre wrong. You aren’t going to go ahead and arrange a fight when legal action is commenced and youre likely going to be stopped from fighting by an injunction. That’s logical.maverick23 wrote: ↑31 May 2021, 09:14There was no mention at the time from those involved that the reason I didn’t happen was because of the Wilder arbitration. And why not just arrange a fight in America against a cheap opponent if it was just about a lack of UK funding?
Fury was massively frustrated that he didn’t fight in December. If it was about cash why did he not just agree to a smaller proportionate purse?

Arum bluffing and he was just bluffing until the outcome of the arbitration. And indeed he was proved wrong.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑31 May 2021, 09:15Then Arum came out and said they couldn’t do shit. The deal for the trilogy fight was done within days of the arbitration outcome. Arum knew all along that wilder could stop fury wanting to move on and hence plan b (fury v wilder 3) was lined up.

You may well be right that the reason he didn’t fight was because of the Wilder arbitration but that’s not what anyone (Arum, FW, Tyson) said at the time re: the December U.K. fight. It was simply they couldn’t sort the necessary funds.liamlion wrote: ↑31 May 2021, 09:28You aren’t going to go ahead and arrange a fight when legal action is commenced and youre likely going to be stopped from fighting by an injunction. Tyson would have wanted to be paid extremely well, next to no fans, having to mess around with a start time to suit both U.K. and ESPN.
Re: fighting in America, Tyson against a no name with no fans isn’t going to deliver the ratings needed to justify the purse Tyson would be wanting. For a non-PPV fight in the US, I would have thought the most ESPN would be willing to pay is $5-6m for him. Coupled with a super late start, not much of an opponent then it wouldn’t deliver big U.K. PPV numbers either.
Re: Tyson Fury vs. Deontay Wilder III - 24 July 2021
I remember it being speculated that warren couldn’t afford to stage the fight and I agree that there was no mass public mention of arbitration but it was reported in the uk press at the time and I’ve shared the link above to evidence this. But the fact is that wilder commenced arbitration in 2020 upon the suggestion that fury would not fight him for a third time despite being contractually obliged to do so.maverick23 wrote: ↑31 May 2021, 10:09You may well be right that the reason he didn’t fight was because of the Wilder arbitration but that’s not what anyone (Arum, FW, Tyson) said at the time re: the December U.K. fight. Parties to ongoing legal action don’t tend to make public comment about it. It can prejudice the outcome of the proceedings.
Fury might want to have been properly paid but the reality is that he couldn’t have fought had he wanted as he was in a contractual dispute that was going through arbitration. The outcome of the arbitration has essentially proved it. If it didn’t have teeth then fury wouldn’t now be fighting Wilder.
We know that fury would have fought in December if he had been able to because warren gave a proposed date, location (Albert hall) and opponent. It was going to happen but for wilder commencing arbitration and throwing a spanner in the works.

Like I said before the arbitration may well have cancelled the planned December fight but it wasn’t the main reason. They didn’t even get that far as they couldn’t sort the money. See FW’s quotes on the link below....liamlion wrote: ↑31 May 2021, 14:39I remember it being speculated that warren couldn’t afford to stage the fight and I agree that there was no mass public mention of arbitration but it was reported in the uk press at the time and I’ve shared the link above to evidence this. I’d be surprised if that was just BS from FW. It’s not a good look for a promoter to say a fight didn’t happen because they couldn’t sort the timings or financials. If they’d said they couldn’t do it because the ongoing legal situation then no one would question it. Perhaps they were trying to bluff everyone - including Tyson.

I’m ina minority here. I’m keen to see it again and believe Wilder can win. I truly hope he doesn’t though.
The previous 2 fights are big historical events.I’d take a third fight as opposed to watching these dudes beat up nobodies. I honestly didn’t believe the Joshua Fury fight was going ahead so maybe that’s why I don’t mind a trilogy fight.
