Hatton operated during some of the best ever times at 140lb

It was rammed with talent. Way tougher than it is nowadays.

Hatton didn’t like southpaws, Collazo was a step-up in weight with little notice. Got rocked to his boots.

Can Taylor rock Hatton ? Yes he could but not 100% convinced he’d beat Ricky prime for prime.

I think his swarming style would tire Taylor out.

who were these killers ricky fought outside of KT that taylor would have struggled with? The ancient vince phillips? The limited Ben Tackie? Ray Oliveria? Chronic alky Eamon Magee? The shot to pieces Castillo? The plodding Urango? The retired Lazcano? Powder Puff Paulie? Maussa ffs.... Josh would breeze through every single one of those. Best ever times, you must be joking. Even Gatti was a glorified clubfighter just cos he was in exciting wars. Witter was a talent, but we know hatton wanted no part of him truth be told. Judah could was a beast when he was switched on. Cotto was only there 5 minutes. I can't see anything ricky achieved that Josh couldn't also. (tho the KT result was a belter)

Same could be said of Taylor - who the eff is Prograis ?

I like Taylor but he’s had the benefit of a mediocre division.

I completely, 100% disagree.

JT has faced every top LWW by way of a tournament AND defeating the very best in the division who did not participate in the tournament: Martin, Baranchyk, Prograis, Khongsong, and Ramirez in succession, all undefeated.

Hatton did nothing comparable.

As far as this 140lb div “not a patch on the old days,” I give you G.A. Russell and Matias, who have not even graduated to top shelf but who would give hell to anyone Hatton fought at LWW at the time he fought them, with the possible exception of Pac.

IMO, JT is too big, strong, skilled, powerful, focused, determined and smart for Hatton, even at his very best.

this. hatton didn't even face his domestic rival let alone get stuck in like Josh has. and unbelievably early in his career too i may add. and in regards to ricky, all the "only lost to the best of his generation" shtick is overplayed. a)they were MONSTER paydays no one would refuse b) he fought Manny after he beat Oscar and thought the result was down to Oscar being dehydrated and shot. Although it looks a courageous choice in hindsight, at the time manny was still seen as a little fighter who got a lucky break vs a huge draw. Ricky, ever the shrewd opponent picker, thought he would be too big and be able to bully the guy who was competing as a lightweight just a fight previously.

Ultimately give it a couple of years and the assessment may shift back to Hatton. I suspect Taylor is one of those fighters where everything has to be 100% to operate as he does. As soon as any slippage enters the equation he will probably start losing by stoppage repeatedly, and fall down in everyone’s estimation.

So theres two arguments for the future ,,, The scots , can argue in the pub with each other , about who was there best ever ,,,think you'll find the arguments will be 50-50 .

Then on the next rnd they can discuss who was the best Hatton or Taylor ,,, I say discuss , because i know its gonna be 99-1 Taylor the best , with the odd scotsman going for Hatton just to stir his mates up
