Roy Jones Jr still wants cruiserweight title, says he wasn’t “compensated fully” by Triller for Mike Tyson exhibition
The legendary Roy Jones Jr. is the latest to make an appearance on Brian Custer’s Last Stand Podcast and in this installment Jones talks about his interest in resuming his professional fighting career while currently working as a trainer, as well as mentioning some grievances he has with the Triller after facing Mike Tyson on the network. Check out some excerpts below with the full video interview above.
On a possible comeback at cruiserweight
“Phil Mickelson has me really inspired me. What he did lit a fire back in me and I got right back in the gym. I said, if Phil can be the oldest to win a major then why can’t you go get that Cruiserweight title that has evaded you.”
On training Chris Eubank Jr
“This kid is one of the most explosive fighters on the planet, now if we can calm some of that explosiveness down, and teach him to do a little more boxing which he showed in his last fight he can be really something to watch. When he turns it on, he really turns it on and you have to be able to withstand some stuff to be able to weather that storm. I know he can fight with anybody. We want Triple G, but we’ll take Canelo too because it’s a great fight for us.”
On issues he and Tyson have with Triller
“We both had issues with them, and still have issues with them. Ryan Kavanaugh called me and personally told me he wanted to do something extra because of the fact the fight did so well. Did that ever happen? No, all a bunch of talk but nothing behind it. ... I got compensated but not fully, that’s the problem. That’s the real problem.”

It's a shame RJJ can't let the sport go. He fought for way too long and was getting whupped by guys who wouldn't have landed a punch on him in his prime. Sad really

It's kinda poetic justice. He was an arrogant ass in his prime, and now he has to pay the piper. He could just retire, and not subject himself to this, but he chooses he keep going so I can't say I feel any pity for him.Controversial wrote: ↑01 Jun 2021, 12:56 It's a shame RJJ can't let the sport go. I feel like boxing authorities should really step up and forcefully dissuade Roy from ever competing professionally again. At the least mandate brain scans for CTE.

Roy Jones jr. Probably the best pound for pound fighter of all times. It's his life and his body. If he wants to continue going into the ring then that's his decision. Wonder if he'll be able to make a great out of Eubank jr.

Roy getting KO'd again or killed won't help anybody.
He can't get a CW title at 52. He can only hurt himself.

he well knows there's not the slightest chance for him to stay on his feet against any decent active cruiserweight in a real fight.
he's not delusional. it's all talk to get in the headlines. which works.

What nonsense. People don't say things to the media to get attention. They speak to the media to convey facts. Facts that are thoroughly researched and irrefutable.adislav123 wrote: ↑02 Jun 2021, 17:32 he well knows there's not the slightest chance for him to stay on his feet against any decent active cruiserweight in a real fight.

E-O, is this the cliffsnotes version of you?
Re: Roy Jones Jr still wants cruiserweight title, says he wasn’t “compensated fully” by Triller for Mike Tyson exhibitio
Haha love that reaction. No I’m not serious. I wasn’t serious about the media comment or the flat-earther comment. I can’t speak for whether EO is retarded or not. He’s clearly shown he is though.

Too watery, and all the meaty pieces are microscopic.

Roy can get as many CW titles as he wants. All he needs to do is pick up the phone and he'll get nominated as the wbo silver cw champ, wba diamond, wbf interim, ibf hispanic interim champ etc without even stepping into the ring.

You’ve got two guys in their fifties (Tyson & Jones Jr.) willing to risk tarnishing their legacies to engage in a novelty circus event, probably because they’re desperate for the money, not getting paid what they’re owed.
So if both veterans still need the money, then they’ll have to continue competing in a sport in order to pay the bills.
It’s sad they have to do this.
All of us have bills to pay and I suspect most of us at some point in our lives have had to resort to performing jobs we dislike (or are incompatible with) in order to make a living. The same applies to Roy Jones Jr.
Meanwhile, it’s interesting to see people criticise the fighters rather than lambasting Triller for their misconduct!
This is the reason why I nearly always support boxers for employing the “risk versus reward” ratio, because fight fans couldn’t care less what happens to fighters after they’ve hung up their gloves.
