Perhaps at one point he may have been 9th or 10th but more importantly he ranks right there with Leon Spinks as the worst to ever hold the lineal Heavyweight Championship.

Yeah, I agree. At his best #9/10. At his worst [vs. Sedrick Fields] hardly top 100.

I thought Briggs was pretty talented, but somehow never lived up to his potential. Maybe he was one of those guys who didn't train, but who knows.

His best fight was against Lewis. Briggs was in shape and motivated. He not only staggered Lewis, but really pressed him to the limits before Lewis finally got him out of there. Probably one of the best heavyweight fights in recent years.

But other than that, Briggs has failed pretty badly in most of his big fights. He was KO'd by Darrol Wilson in what was supposed to be a big TV showcase fight for Briggs, he really was beat up by an 80-year old George Foreman and got a gift decision (and that's how he became a lineal champ), he really was beat up by Botha and got another gift there, and then he was totally outboxed by McCline (who really isn't all that good). Briggs has put on a lot of weight since the Lewis fight... he really doesn't look fat, but the extra weight does slow him down.

I'd say Briggs was better than the guys he beat and not as good as the guys who beat him...except he "beat" Foreman according to Ray Charles,Stevie Wonder and George Shearing, who were the judges that night....and Foreman was better even at that age.

My won theory is he had the build of a heavyweight and a little charisma and some natural ability and was talked into getting into the game, but didn't really have the heart or talent for......and by "heart" I don't mean courage..I mean that indefinable "it" that you either have or you don't.

tyson...I really pondered that one....checked records, lay awake thinking about it, and finally came up with that conclusion.

then, to my surprise, I discovered it applied to MANY OTHER FIGHTERS AS WELL!!!

Supposedly, he is a huge fan of MMA and he has been training very seriously for the last few years with skilled groundfighters at a place named American Top Team. There has been talk of him fighting in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Briggs is fighting for the heavyweight championship of the world!! ehhh, IBU that is.

No doubt he's gonna get a IBU-worthy opponent. Bring on Crawford Grimsley.

I've heard nothing about him competing in the UFC, K-1 or even the Midwestern Lace Bobbin championships

Yes he is training at the American Top Team and rumours are that he will be appearing in a future UFC.
