Floyd Mayweather and Logan Paul 'could see their pay-per-view purses SLASHED', with fans demanding refunds after Showtime's app crashed... but both will still walk away with eight-figure pay cheques!
Floyd Mayweather and Logan Paul could reportedly lose out on a significant amount of money with their pay-per-view cuts potentially taking a hit after Showtime's streaming app crashed.
The eight-round exhibition fight in Miami, which ended with no victor after it went the full distance, was being aired on the broadcaster's streaming app, but a slew of North American fight fans were unable to watch.
The American Television network are now asking fans to go to their website to request a refund after angry punters - who shelled out £35 ($49.99) - to watch the eight-round exhibition demanded their money back.

Twitter user Lincoln W said: 'The stream never worked even though I paid 50 for it. Need my money back asap. Refund everyone who you failed tonight.'
Another called Matthew Slater said: 'Never buying a showtime boxing event again! horrible servers. We want refunds!'
'@Showtime when am i getting my refund for the 3 missed fights on the paul vs mayweather ppv because y’all decided to scam everyone who bought the fight including me?,' wrote another Twitter user.
It is unclear how many paying customers were impacted by the technical difficulties but it could end up costing Showtime thousands if refunds are issued.
According to The Sun, that could affect what Mayweather and Paul were due to receive from their share of the pay-per-view revenue.
Mayweather, 44, claimed he could earn as much as $100million (£71m) in total from the fight while Paul reportedly was set to earn in the region of $26m (£14m) when PPV figures and everything else was accounted for.
Official purse figures are usually made public by the sanctioning commission, but the Florida State Boxing Commission hasn't released any because it was an exhibition.
Regardless both men will be walking away with eight-figure pay cheques.

Re: Floyd Mayweather vs. Logan Paul | Exhibition - June 6, 2021
Floyd looked better than I thought he would.
He clearly didn't look anywhere near his physical prime and he definitely didn't look for the KO.
Logan Paul also surpassed my expectations. However, I thought he'd try to use his strength, youth and size by outworking and overcrowding Floyd (instead of pot-shotting a boxer) and I didn't expect him to do so much holding either.
I still can't endorse these events, though they clearly have their pros as well as their cons, such as media exposure and revenue generation.
I'd like to see Floyd hang up his gloves now.
Enough is enough.

I said it earlier in this thread, but how incompetent and awful a commentator is Adam Smith? How cann you know so little about boxing when you've been commentating on it or working on it your adult life and been lucky enough to be ringside at some of the biggest boxing nights ever?
Its the same thing - chooses his man (obv Mayweather here). Talks about him only. Ignores every shot the other fighter lands. Is seemingly blind to reading a fight or noticing any swing of momentum or subtlety. Has zero insight. Vomits preprepared cliche after cliche.
Great to hear Barry Jones out him right so often including picking out shots that Paul actually landed. I so hope Sky Sports boxing ends. Get rid of all the Sky clowns. Smith doesn't even deserve the netball!

arguably shouldve been dq'd for elbowing and holding hatton as well, so can make a case for him being 40-9-1![]()

Fair play to Mayweather he's just trying to take more out of boxing than it is taking out of him but it's hard to see where more multi-million dollar farces like this are going to come from. Where will they find the 'fans' who are willing to keep paying out for dull fare like this?Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑07 Jun 2021, 10:04He already has. Mayweather suggested he was considering retirement immediately after the De La Hoya fight.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑07 Jun 2021, 10:04He already has. Even with exhibitions, he said, that would be it.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑07 Jun 2021, 10:00

He officially retired after the Ricky Hatton fight.
And he retired again after the Berto bout.
He then said he was no longer fighting again after the McGregor novelty circus event.
So it's possible (if he's offered a big enough payday) to see him make another laughable "comeback".
That said, I'd love Floyd to prove me wrong by sticking by his word and retiring for good.
I really don't want to see him engage in any more exhibitions.

didn't bother to watch the shitfest.
are those compubox numbers for real or 'enhanced' in floyd's favour like they used to do it?
must've been a real slugfest! one for the real boxing connoisseurs!
(pac hits floyd with a three punch combination - floyd once paws the air - according to compubox pacman gets zip and floyd 2 punches landed counted)

cant blame floyd, making hundreds of millions basically for half hearted sparring
Re: Floyd Mayweather vs. Logan Paul | Exhibition - June 6, 2021
It was a fight of the century, including the previous one. Probably only Mayweather vs Nasukawa or Berto can be close to this in terms of greatness and spectacle. A breathtaking slugfest with high drama. Paul edged it a bit. He must fight Trevor Bryan for the undisputed championship next.

"Floyd Mayweather Accused Of Holding Up Logan Paul After Knocking Him Out During Fight"
Floyd Mayweather has been accused of holding up Logan Paul after knocking him out to help ensure the YouTuber could continue the fight.
The highly anticipated exhibition match between Paul and boxing legend Mayweather took place at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami last night, June 6, and saw Paul successfully make it through all eight rounds.
The match could only be decided by knockout, technical knockout or disqualification, according to the rules of the exhibition match, and there was no winner announced. However, some eagle-eyed Twitter users are now speculating that Mayweather might have actually covered up a knock out.
In the video, Mayweather and Paul can be seen battling it out as they go head-to-head, with the boxing legend dodging a punch from his opponent before successfully clocking him on the side of the head.
Mayweather then immediately closes in on Paul and appears to grab him around the torso as Paul seemingly droops forwards, potentially unconscious. However, Mayweather keeps his gloves close to Paul’s face and the YouTuber soon begins to hit back once again.
Sharing the footage on Twitter, one user wrote: ‘Floyd Mayweather actually knocked out Logan Paul, but held him up during the fight to carry it through 8 rounds.’
I don't really see what the fuss is all about.
Logan Paul might have been buzzed and exhausted at times, to the point of being vulnerable to losing by stoppage, but we all knew beforehand that Mayweather was never going to try end the fight early.
And it seems likely that Floyd wasn’t really trying to hurt his opponent either. I don’t think any real fighter would go all out (all guns blazing) on a novice. That would just be wrong.

I can understand the reasons for you’ve cited for criticising Adam Smith, but to be perfectly honest, I’ve never watched a bout where the broadcasting team haven’t shown favouritism towards “their own man”.JamesPhilips wrote: ↑07 Jun 2021, 10:58 I said it earlier in this thread, but how incompetent and awful a commentator is Adam Smith? I don’t think that Adam Smith is incompetent, it’s just part of his job title to put a positive spin on Sky’s own fighters (or guys his employers will want to work with in the future).
I’m not saying I agree with it (I certainly don’t endorse such conduct), but it seems a tad unreasonable to single out Adam Smith, when media bias is commonplace.
