Depends on what kind of offers he can get. Id like to see him recover, get 2 rankkk tune ups, like just novices with padded records to bash and get convedence up and help the public forget his loss, then fight smith (smith should get 2 rank tune ups too).

saunders vs smith, UK summer 2022, crowds back. Surely there is some money in that, by then probably a vacant belt too.

You don't have to like him, I don't particularly, but that is a ridiculously one sided assessment of an excellent career. Nigel Benn openly tells people he quit against Collins and didn't even train for that bout and gets laughs and applause! Billy has lost to the P4P no 1. He didn't get hit once in his career and quit immediately. He qualified for the Olympics at 17. All these things still happened whether people like him or not.
The major difference is that Benn proved himself many times prior to the Collins defeat; I am pretty sure everyone knew that was a washed up Benn around then.
Where as BJS has never demonstrated that never-say-die attitude; even though he promised us he would if required ... well it was required in that round Canelo landed that uppercut ... and BJS panicked and quit immediately.
He didn't. He saw the round out. There's no point discussing it on here because everyone hates Billy. But if that's the worst 'quit' you've ever seen in your life you clearly haven't seen much boxing. Tyson biting Holyfields ear was a quit, AJ certainly was, Benn definitely, Eubank tried to get himself disqualified against Sherry because he knew he was getting beat, although saved by bent ref and judges. Oscar, Hatton, loads of others have question marks against defeats.
As you write; theres no point discussing it on here because everyone hates BJS .. or seems to have a traveller-bias impairing their discussion ability.

If you didn't see the quit in BJS immediately following the uppercut then you clearly can't read a fight. BJS is saying now it was only after 30 seconds he realised his eye was damaged ... Re-watch the fight; see how long it took Canelo to see BJS had quit.

Not in the slightest; he threw something like 1 jab for the full 120 seconds he seems to be trying to get credit for. For someone who even in this interview still claims >>>> I’m willing to put down the life.
Then surely youd expect him to be throwing something more than 1 jab in 120 seconds?
You are right, he only threw one jab in the remainder of the round. He essentially quit mid round and nobody can convince me otherwise

I can read a fight. I'm not saying he was desperate to go on.... you are saying he's been hit once in his career and packed in. Its beyond stupidity.

There is no gray area related to quitting in the middle of a round of boxing. You either quit or you made it to the end of the round. BJS made it to the end of the 8th round. Therefore, he did not quit (essentially or otherwise) in the middle of that round.

Otoh, BJS quit between 8 and 9, whether he claims that it was his corner's decision or not. Team BJS is BJS, and he quit.

They made the correct decision.

It’s no wonder actual boxers react with disdain to opinions of fans who haven’t taken or even thrown a punch. There used to be a few post on here and it’s no surprise they don’t bother now.

BJS may well be a total shítbag of a man, but I absolutely refuse to condemn anyone for "quitting" with an injury like that. This is not the Middle Ages. Seriously expecting a fighter to continue while feeling his eye "dropping down" because of a cracked eyesocket, regardless of whatever stupid warrior bullshít he may have come out with before, is borderline sociopathic.

It used to be said that a fighter had "retired" with an injury. Perhaps that term needs to be brought back, because there is a gigantic difference between what BJS did and, say, Paul Sykes turning his back.

It’s hardly unreasonable that a boxer would feel an injury halfway through a round, then try to see it out with minimal extra damage until he’s got back to the corner for them to take a look. Happens all the time, surely?

When he’s making 20 mill on the premise he’ll die in there, it was a cowardly act of robbery. We pay him our hard earned money to buy a house and take the risk of dying.

I thought you'd "banned" me? Silly me, I thought we could rely on you as a bastion of truth.

Otherwise, the fact that you think BJS is morally obliged to die or be blinded if necessary because he's getting paid well tells us everything we need to know about you. (Well, that and the fact that you've spent time in a mental health facility. With the endless Eubank posts I guess someone did some digging.)

Good luck with the long recovery ahead.

Saunders sold the fight saying he’s prepared to die. He lied. He wasn’t even prepared to be punched in the face or continue with a black eye.

It is what it is, he chose to be laughed at and forgotten rather than applauded or respected.

In other words, have a fornicating go - that means risking your health, I mean it’s fkn fighting not tiddlywinks. What they signed up for. This is the fight game.

Nobody wants to see anybody blinded or seriously injured in boxing; I am not a BJS hater like some here. And I will agree that pulling him out was the correct thing to do.

The point that is getting distorted is that some boxers are too brave for their own good at times; they will keep chasing the victory as the dog in them keeps snarling and attacking more as the fight gets harder ... BJS told us he had that snarling fighting dog in him ... but he clearly didnt, because the first time he got hit .. and hurt (pretty obvious it want first time he`d ever been hit), he panicked and quit. He had no snarling dog in him who attacked harder when he tasted blood .. the recent Josh Warrington showed he had that fighting dog in him; each round he took a pasting was damaging to his health, and his corner should have also saved him for another day. But ... Warrington didnt show then he was scared and didnt want to go on by only throwing one punch after he was hurt.

If BJS continued to fight back in that round with fire his corner would have not considered stopping it until it was clear he couldnt physically continue (they were still using an endswell on him so obviously didnt know the damage which apparently was there) ... instead they seen he mentally couldnt continue, because he had already quit in the fight 1 minute 20 seconds earlier.
