weight bullies
Re: weight bullies
To stay dead at the weight for over 24hrs and not be noticeable to physicians overseeing the weigh ins wouldn’t be possible IMO.
Yes, you made a good point in weight maybe not being achieved at the 2nd weigh in but if only a few lbs or less then normal sanctions would apply like deductions in purse, titles not on the line for you, ect.
It’s not a perfect science my idea and no idea is invulnerable to stopping fighters losing a lot of weight then regaining it over night.
I just hate seeing middleweights 175lbs plus.
I think it’s dangerous and it does create significant differences in fight outcomes.
If you weigh 175lbs on fight night, fight at God damn light heavy.

Re: weight bullies
ya could be right about that......and obviously the higher end guys can have whole teams who work on this stuff for themCounter-puncher wrote: ↑08 Jun 2021, 06:04my guess is that a genetic predisposition (or not) for cutting weight, is secondary to the scientific knowledge/ whatever cheats they use. IE having the right team in place (with all that entails) a bigger factor than genetics, though i stand to be corrected on thatmargaret thatcher wrote: ↑07 Jun 2021, 20:02 its very interesting, cuz i totally see why it has an unfair vibe to it. we have weight divisions and rate guys p4p to eliminate the size factor. we value often those abilities that take so much application and practice to craft properly. and no one says that manuel charr is better than tank davis or inoue etc, even though he would beat their asses simply cuz he's bigger
on the other hand, is having the right genetics to be able to drain a ton of weight, any more unfair than having the genetics that make you a way bigger puncher than the other guys? that is a bit unfair too isnt it, wasnt something your or the others had a choice over. and getting weight right can take lots of dedication too
now, let's say your an a-side fighter, and you blow the weight, but then payoff the other guy either to take the fight anyway or for the limit to be upped, that's not any genetic gift or dedication

When weight cutting goes wrong:
The crazy thing about that was that the doctor thought it was sensible to let him have a second go at the weigh-in! Who was the doctor - Jozef Mengele?!

Jarrett Hurd is the modern poster child for this thread.

Eubank always looked huge ar middleweight. He used to take breaks in fights to conserve his energy. He eventually went up to cruiserweight. I reckon Chris could be considered

if it's so obvious than what the heck did he actually mean?margaret thatcher wrote: ↑12 Jun 2021, 19:08 its obvious what he meant, dont take things too seriously my man
is it very complicated to explain?
where is the relation between a fight doctor responsible for the procedure of the weigh-in of a professional mma contest and effing dr. josef mengele?
i'd appreciate if the joker or anybody who 'gets it' could quickly explain it cause i'd really like to be in on that 'joke'?
Re: weight bullies
Both are doctors who I wouldn't want to be looked after by. Get it now?adislav123 wrote: ↑12 Jun 2021, 20:06if it's so obvious than what the heck did he actually mean?margaret thatcher wrote: ↑12 Jun 2021, 19:08 its obvious what he meant, dont take things too seriously my man

Re: weight bullies
Higa was arguably one of the biggest punchers in the world.
I thought he would be a future pound for pound star similar to how Inoue developed.
But the massive cuts to flyweight took their toll. He missed weight for Rosales. Looks awful at the weigh-in and ended up getting beaten.
He then jumped up two weight classes and hasn’t looked the same since.
Making weight should be hard but some people kill themselves to fight at an unrealistic weight class and ruin their careers.
