No it's not. When the UFC was under the Zuffa banner, Lorenzo Fertitta was interviewed on the matter. It's on YouTube. You should look into it before commenting.Wee Tommy wrote: ↑07 Jun 2021, 21:48That’s nonsense.Impractical Poster wrote: ↑07 Jun 2021, 18:06 The thing is, though, is that the UFC pays their fighters more overall than in boxing. A fighter debuting on a UFC undercard is going to make a lot more than a fighter debuting on a TR card, for example.
I believe there are only a handful of boxers making serious bank anyway. And as far as the Paul brothers go, they were mega YouTube stars prior to boxing. It's not as simple and clear cut as Francis is making out.
Also, a fighter's worth shows up in ppv numbers. Fighter's like McGregor and Diaz sell. Jones as dominate as he was could not sell like they did. He's just not portrayed himself or put himself into a position to get what he's asking. If he did, he'd get what he wanted. Now he's going to sit on the shelf and waste away. If he took the Stipe fight he'd position himself for a title shot against Francis while staying active. It's obvious he's not confident in his abilities at this point, especially at hw, and is looking to cash out.
I rate Bones as the goat, but he's not the most savvy businessman to have entered the octagon.
