Does Sturm have a rematch clause?

Will he try & get a rematch vs a man who beat the crap out of him? I think not. I know that Universum have options on Castillejo, but I wonder how quick everyone would be to get Sturm back in there.

Beat the crap out of him? Most score cards have it level or no more than a round or two in it (either way). The actual cards I am sure would have had Castilejo needing a KO to win.

Sturm will come from that, his injury sounds pretty horrific.

having your jaw nearly busted is a beating enough

i like sturm, but he's not a mobile fighter & if castillejo can break through his guard there's a chance he can do it again

i'm sure he wouldn't fancy it just yet

Universum has a say in Castillejo's next 3 fights, so I'd say that it's a lock.

I'd say they'll press for a very fast rematch. Castillejo is likely to lose in his very first defence, unless they find him a nice fat pigeon for an easy hometown defence first.

He was getting outboxed most of the way and Strum didn't really take a steady beating. In fact he looked well on his way to winning, before that single left hook landed and it was all over 5 seconds later.

They'll probably throw Javier a bone and give him a cake win and get his confidence up. Also, give Sturm a chance to heal and get the confidence back that he had vs Oscar. I'd say 1 fight for each, then the rematch.

i'd like to see Castillejo-Karmazin II. The first fight is regarded as a classic in Europe. I can attest to that - it's the best junior middleweight fight in many years. Karmazin deserves another chance. I think he beat Spinks, and less deserving people - like Spinks, Judah & Jose Rivera - have been jumping up a division and getting an immediate title shot after losing their own belts convincingly.

Imagine if Taylor had doen the same to Sturm - it would be some notch on his belt and a semi-great win, because Castijos done it Sturm will just be called exposed. Greatness is all about fighting people at the right time

Brought this topic from the dead just to inform that it looks like Castilejo will be defending his new title in Germany vs tough Argentinan Mariano Natalio Carrera.

Looks a very winable first defence for Castilejo - I'm quite surprised the Kohl have gone for this as a first defence. I would have expected him to have one of his homeboys take on Castilejo while he has the options.

Mind you Sturm looks set to be on the undercard.
