Towel ignored by the ref ....

Post by Wales »

Has there been an example of the ref ignoring a towel being thrown in by the corner, only to be proved right and the fighter who’s corner threw it in gone on to win the fight?

I can't recall anything like that. I have seen them force further punishment on the guy that was already losing though.

Graham Earl vs Michael Katsidis

EDIT: I'm wrong. Earl ended up losing a UD.

If I'm remembering right the towel fight was the one Earl was KO'd in. I think they had a rematch later where MK won a UD.

The only times I can remember the ref refusing a towel at all are that one, the recent one and another one, was it Cotto vs Yuri Foreman or something like that? I think the guy had an obvious leg injury and Mercante Jr refused the towel for no sensible reason. Cotto won by stoppage shortly afterwards anyway.

Cotto won .... Foreman corner threw it in, ref ignored it , Cotto went on to carry on the beating. And win anyway
